Visit Hawai‘i’ Islan's only working salt farm and the only salt in the world from Deep Ocean Water, 2,200 below the surface. Located on a beautiful oceanfront site within the Hawai‘i Ocean Science and Technology Park, the Kona Salt Farm blends Hawaiian tradition, science, and ocean stewardship. You’ll learn how pure, mineral-rich deep ocean water is transformed through solar evaporation into exceptional Hawaiian salt. Along the way, enjoy guided tastings, stories of pa‘akai (salt) in Hawaiian culture, and a glimpse into Hawai‘i’s regenerative ocean economy.

Detailed Itinerary
The journey, in full
1. Welcome and Overview Arrive at Kona Salt Farm, enjoy oceanfront views and a welcome deep ocean magnesium mineral water, and meet your guide for a brief orientation. Learn about our site, the Hawaii Ocean Science Technology Park, and some of the fascinating projects around us. 2. Brief Walk to our Shoreline Learn about Deep Ocean Water and its travel story, and how it is brought ashore. Hear of Hawaii’s cultural traditions of pa‘akai (salt). 3. Guided Farm Walk We walk to the salt-making area and into our hot house, and learn about the salt crystallization process, the knowledge that goes into salt making, and the different variations the solar evaporation process produces 4. Ocean Stewardship You will briefly learn about some of the ocean care projects your visit supports. 5. Salt Tasting Taste our 13 pure, flavored, and smoked Kona salts with a little selection of fruits and veggies. 6. Optional Add-On: Deep Ocean Water Foot Soak (20 minutes) Relax in our shaded ocean view cabana with a 47-degree cold, mineral-rich deep ocean foot soak, the perfect finish to your visit.

Nice tour you can do if you have a red eye home. Closer to the airport wtb awesome sea views. Only wish they had been a bit more clear about the deep ocean water soak. The water is 45 degrees and it is a 20 min soak. Our group had a hard time keeping our feet in the water for the full 20 mins.
