Line 1: Ukumehame Step up to the first platform of the adventure to see the valley floor open below. Did you know: The name Ukumehame means "to pay in Mehame wood." The word describes the area of Maui between Ma'alaea and the end of the "Pali" or cliff section of the highway to Lahaina. Legend says, a female robber named Kaiaupe used to live on the Pali and entice males, only to rob them and kick them off the cliff! Line 2: Olowalu Practice your ziplining skills on this slightly longer and faster line. Did you know: Olowalu means "Din of many voices" or "To rush or attack in concert." This is the area located immediately after Ukumehame, along the western shores of Maui. The area has historical significance. Even today, you can find ancient petroglyphs in the lower portion of this valley. Line 3: Launiupoko Take a short hike down the side of the valley to see many native Hawaiian plants on your way to line 3. Did you know: Launiupoko is a popular beach park just outside of Lahaina, but it is also the site of some interesting history. The name Launiupoko means "small coconut leaf". An ancient method of fishing for sharks used to take place on this beach. Line 4: Wainee Line 4 reveals amazing views of the Pacific Ocean and Kaho’olawe, the small unpopulated island located off Maui's coast. Did you know: The name Waine'e means "creeping water." This area is where Kamehameha III lived for many years. It is knowns as Moku'ula, or Sacred Island, it used to be a spiritual center of Hawaii. Viewing Platform: Stand at the edge of a 1000-foot cliff where you can see stunning views of the West Maui Mountains. During this stop, guests can refill their water bottles for the second half of the tour while guides share stories about the area. Line 5: Panaewa Fly 150-feet above the ground on our highest line of the tour. Did you know: Panaewa translates to "west side games." Noted Hawaiian historian, David Malo, is buried high in this area. Pu'u Kukui is home to over 17 endangered species, including koa'ia and a very rare type of geranium. Line 6: Paunau Get a running start and leap into the air from our platform launch on line 6. Did you know: The name Paunau translates to "the food has been chewed". At the base of the Paunau ahupua'a is the Hauola stone. Hawaiians believed this to be a healing rock, where you could sit with your feet in the water and let the waves wash over them. According to legend, this helps you regain health. Line 7: Wahikuli We dare you to take a “trust zip” - let your guides help you zip across line 7 backwards. Did you know: Wahikuli means "a noisy place", but despite the name, you're far away from anything noisy here. Much like all of the regions in the Lahaina moku, Wahikuli is an area with a lot of historical significance. Legend has it that Pu'u Laina was the first place the Pele, the volcano goddess, appeared on Maui. Line 8: Hanakao'o The hike from line 7 to 8 opens up some of the most spectacular views of the entire course. Did you know: The name Hanakao'o means "to work with an o'o". An o'o was a long tool used to plant sweet potatoes and other crops. In this area can be found Pu'u Keka'a, which is known as 'Uhane lele, or Soul Leaping Place of Maui.
