The swamp tour was a lot of fun and very educational. We went during winter months when you are less likely to see animals but we still managed to see many types of animals and wildlife including raccoons, multiple birds, a nutria, and even an alligator. The swamp tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Definitely a must do whenever you go!

This was not a swamp tour--it was a tour of a stretch of the Pearl River with one side trip into a more narrow channel. The boat was handled by a driver--I would not consider him a guide. Although he could list of names of fish, snakes, and mammals in the area, he sloughed off questions about the common whitish-barked trees along the river by commenting there were lots of species of trees. At one point he was asked a question that he said he gets a lot but didn't know the answer to--if he gets asked it a lot, he should find out what the answer is. Passengers also sit on opposites of the boat facing out the sides; since we weren't supposed to stand up, he should have turned the boat so that something visible on one side could be seen by the people sitting on the other side. We did see some animals including a small alligator or I would have given the tour only one star.

Great tour with very knowledgeable guide! There’s a lot more to this tour than just seeing alligator, and other wildlife, like seeing the local community and how they live daily on the water.
