What your day looks like
Enjoy a unique day trip to the North Shore from Boston, combining Salem and Hammond Castle Museum! Start the day with a pickup at your door and a comfortable ride to Hammond Castle Museum, located on the ocean cliffs of Gloucester. Take a guided tour of the Castle, learning about the history of the eccentric millionaire inventor who built it. Enjoy free time to explore the Castle and gardens with plenty of opportunities for stunning photos. Drive to Salem, where you will have free time for lunch. Choose from a wide variety of dining options in the historic downtown. After lunch, your guide will take you on a tour of Salem. Learn about the infamous witch trials of 1692 and see the real places where the victims were hanged. Learn the story of the "Corwin Curse" as you take a picture in front of the historic Witch House. 1. 60 min - Pick Up and Transfer to Hammond Castle Museum Your guide will pick you up in a comfortable minivan and drive you out to Hammond Castle Museum! 2. 75 min - Hammond Castle Museum Enjoy a guided tour, learning about the origin and history behind the Castle. You will then have time to explore the rest of the grounds and take photos! 3. 30 min - Transfer to Salem Drive to Salem for lunch and the afternoon exploration! 4. 60 min - Break Enjoy an hour for lunch at one of Salem's many excellent restaurants (cost not included)! 5. 15 min - East India Square Learn about Salem's maritime past and how it became one of the richest cities in America. 6. 20 min - Salem Common See the heart of historical Salem and learn about the Puritans who settled the town. 7. 25 min - Salem Witch Trials Memorial Visit the Witch Trials Memorial and learn what really happened in Salem in 1692. 8. 15 min - Old Burying Point Cemetery See the oldest cemetery in Salem, with graves going back to the Salem Witch Trials. 9. 10 min - Houdini Way Learn about Harry Houdini's publicized escape from Salem's jail. 10. 10 min - Bewitched Statue Learn how the famous show Bewitched put Salem on the tourism map! 11. 20 min - The Witch House Stop by one of the only remaining buildings directly associated with the witch trials hysteria. 12. 15 min - Ropes Mansion & Garden See the famous mansion featured in the film Hocus Pocus and learn about the two famous ghosts still residing there today! 13. 15 min - Chestnut Street District Stroll along one of America's most beautiful streets.
