What your day looks like
This full-day tour from Seward highlights the Turnagain Arm, an All-American Road, and National Scenic Byway. Watch for alpine scenery, hanging glaciers, and potential wildlife sightings along the Seward Highway. Enjoy a local guided transfer, aerial tram ride up Mt. Alyeska, lunch, a tour of the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, and scenic photo stops along the way! Following your pick up at the Whittier Cruise Ship Terminal, sit back with your luggage secured in our comfortable and clean sprinter vans as your Alaskan driver guides you northbound on the Seward Highway! Travel 2.5 miles through the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel, the longest highway tunnel in North America! Travel Drive-up Portage Valley for views of several Alpine glaciers and a nature walk to a popular salmon viewing location! Next, visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, a 200-acre natural habitat that provides wildlife education and rehabilitation for some of Alaska’s favorite animals! This is Alaska’s only guaranteed wildlife viewing! Get close enough to observe and photograph some of our favorite land animals such as moose, reindeer, bison, wolves, and more! Visit the quaint town of Girdwood and a favorite local eatery for lunch (provided). After lunch ascends up the side of Mt. Alyeska on an aerial tram. From the top (weather permitting) take in views of several glaciers and the upper reaches of a temperate rainforest. Continue along the Turnagain Arm, an All-American Road, and National Scenic Byway. Look out for alpine scenery, hanging glaciers, and potential wildlife! Upon arrival in Anchorage, you'll be transferred directly to the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport where you will be helped with off-loading your luggage, or you may be dropped off at your Anchorage hotel!

I am happy to report that this excursion was an all-time favorite. This excursion was booked initially as an activity to get our group from the ship to the airport and spend a little spare time doing something fun rather than just sit and wait for our late flight, but we got so much more. This was May and the mountains were beautiful to view from the tram. We loved the views. Our time at the brewery was interesting getting to try the drink offerings and eating at the local food trucks. The standout experience was at the Wildlife conservation center. After being on a cruise ship all week, it was so nice to walk about the open spaces and see all of the beautiful animals and scenery. Our Tour operator was very knowledgeable and able to assist with our needs. Luggage storage was a bonus!

A fantastic way to spend the day if you have a late afternoon flight. Driver, Derek, was informative and friendly. He certainly knows Alaska! We had beautiful views from the height of the tram lift, and it was snowing!! Lunch was a great stop, too. Cute brewery with a couple of food truck options. We were dropped right at the airport by 2:15 and had plenty of time to make our 4pm flight.

This was a post-cruise excursion/transfer that my clients went on, and this is what they wrote me about it: The tram was to take us to the top of Mt Alyeska. It would have been really beautiful. We were heading over there when all of a sudden, 15 cell phones were going off with the tsunami warning!! That was exciting. The transfer tour was nice. It was a small bus, probably an 18-seater. We had 15. The bus driver was very nice. He was personable and knowledgeable. The Conservancy was really interesting. Got to see lots of animals (moose, reindeer, bears, caribou, wood bison, wolves, coyotes, bald eagle, etc). It was pretty windy when we were there, so we had to bundle up! He took us to a local microbrewery, and there were two food trucks. That was the best meal I had on the trip! Fresh, flavorful, and delicious. We did go to the tram location but only walked around at the base (a hotel and small shops). Then we headed to Anchorage and were dropped off at the airport around 2:15.
