What your day looks like
This is our most popular coastal trip, showing you an incredible section of the coastline. The Gaviota Coast is one of the few remaining sections of the undeveloped, open coastline in California, and is home to more than 1500 species of plant and animal life. Your tour will kayak a total of 3 miles, pausing in pristine kelp beds to learn about marine ecology and the Santa Barbara Channel, and hopefully paddling with dolphins.

Detailed Itinerary
The journey, in full
Your guide will outfit the members of your group with paddle jackets, PFDs, a paddle, and a kayak. Following the equipment sorting, your guide will lead a paddling demonstration and safety talk, then ensure you are comfortable in your boat. Set out on the water from the beach and paddle along the coast, visiting "bird island," paddling through kelp beds, under the pier, and along the beach while learning about marine ecology and the Santa Barbara Channel. Along the way, look for wildlife like harbor seals, sea lions, brown pelicans, sea stars, cormorants, and dolphins. Expect to paddle approximately 2-3 miles (3.2–4.8km) along the coast before returning to the beach where your tour ends.

What to Bring
