It’s a bonanza! Great for adventurous hikers looking to enjoy the rich history of Kennecott, Alaska! You’ll hike high into the alpine to reach the old Bonanza Mine site, an enormous body of copper ore claimed in the early 1900s. While the mine itself is closed for safety, you’ll be able to set sights on the old Bonanza tram station and artifacts left over from the Kennecott mining operation. Along the way, you’ll be mesmerized by views of the Root and Kennicott Glaciers that spill into the valley below. In the distance, you’ll have panoramic views of the Chugach Mountains that line part of the Alaskan Coast. While you hike, your guide will teach you about the local flora, fauna, geography, and mining history!
