Best of Wynwood: Street Art Walking Tour
What your day looks like
Wynwood has a very American story: highs and lows, poverty, riots, immigrants, ingenuity, enterprise, gentrification, and success. What makes it different, however, is the ART. The Wynwood Art District is filled with unique restaurants, one-of-a-kind shops, ongoing construction, stylish people, and—most importantly—stunning murals, block after block after block. It’s an incubator of diversity and creativity, and if you’re not part of its scene, you’re missing out on a major phenomenon of your generation. The Best of Wynwood Tour with Wynwood Art Walk offers an insider’s view, introducing you to its history, artists, artworks, and stories, enhancing your appreciation and deepening your enjoyment. We will visit many murals in the area. Although specific murals change often, Wynwood features works by international street art superstars such as David Walker and El Mac, as well as local talents like Atomik and Luis Valle. You’ll learn about the artists, their techniques, and their stories. As we stroll the streets, we’ll discuss the area’s evolution—from the metamorphosis of individual walls to the transformation of buildings and local businesses. We’ll explore Wynwood’s development, from its riot-scarred past through the influx of artists in the 2000s, to the gentrification of the present. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions about anything discussed and will receive recommendations for further exploration or dining and drinking tips upon request. Please note: specific gallery stops, artworks, and murals are subject to change as galleries rotate exhibits and murals are painted over.
