Detailed Itinerary

The journey, in full

The Best of San Antonio Tour begins with your guide greeting you directly in the lobby of your downtown hotel before heading to the first attraction on this exciting half-day adventure of San Antonio, Texas - the River City. The first stop of the day is a visit to a local cultural icon, the Alamo, where you will stand in the footsteps of heroes. Explore the historic grounds and courtyard and take in the story of the 1836 Battle of the Alamo. See key features such as the 16-pounder cannon, palisades, and barracks, and enjoy a quiet moment strolling through the shaded gardens beneath the oak trees. Along the way to your next stop, take in multiple points of interest from the comfort of a Mercedes Metris van on a narrated drive. Next, take in an enriched combination of San Antonio’s history and region within national parks as you experience the stories of people who came into the Spanish missions in the 1700s. Discover even more about San Antonio’s roots and heritage at Missions San Jose - the largest of the city’s 4 southernmost Spanish Colonial Missions as well as the most visited. Known as the “Queen of the Missions,” its stone walls and granary make it a magnificent sight to see. For the thrill-seekers, take an elevator ride up 190 m (623 ft) to the top of Tower of the Americas to witness magnificent panoramic views of San Antonio from the tallest observation deck in Texas. Finally, take in the world-renowned 15-mile urban waterway on a relaxing, 35-minute River Walk Cruise to immerse yourself in the city’s culture, history, and architecture. Along the way, pass points of interest such as La Villita, the Old Mill Crossing, and Selena’s Bridge, featured in the biopic Selena starring Jennifer Lopez. Once your feet are back on the ground, your tour guide will return you safely to your downtown hotel, or arranged destination.

What travelers are saying

Tour content was good but driver/tour guide was late picking us up, then was very rude in front of the other riders accused us of not being there at lobby. Her attitude was terrible! Employees of the hotel even said we were there way ahead of pick-up time and that she never came in and looked for us. The name on the side of her van was unreadable as was too small. Would not ever have this driver again!
