Your guide will be waiting to meet you at the port. After you’ve been welcomed your guide will take you to Topkapi Palace. It has been the Ottoman Sultans' official residence and the state administration's center. Topkapi Palace has been a museum since 1924 and exhibits sacred Islamic relics, a kitchen, Chinese Porcelain, weapons, a calligraphy section, a harem, and an imperial treasury. One of the most important pieces is Spoonmaker’s Diamond, the 7th biggest diamond in the world. Your next stop is Hagia Sophia. It is one of the greatest marvels of architecture. Emperor Justinian constructed Hagia Sophia as a basilica in the 6th century. It was the biggest church in the world for a hundred years. Right now 4th biggest church in the world. Hagia Sophia was opened as a museum in 1935. Also, it's used as a mosque for Muslim prayers. After Hagia Sophia, your next stop is Blue Mosque which is facing Hagia Sophia. Blue Mosque is famous for its blue Iznik Tiles and is unique with 6 minarets. The mosque was built in the name of Sultan Ahmet. The next stop is the Hippodrome, the center of sportive events and political activities in the old city. The Serpentine Column, Obelisk of Theodosius, and German Fountain of Wilhelm II are the monuments decorating the Hippodrome. Your last stop is the Grand Bazaar. It was built in 1461 as the most attractive shopping center and the biggest ” souk ” in the world with nearly 4000 shops selling antiques, jewelry, gold, ceramic, leatherware, carpet, and souvenirs.

Deniz was an amazing tour guide. He met us at the hotel (just my husband and I were on the tour). Deniz was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He was also a very fast walker, which worked well for us. We were able to zip past large tour groups. A snack and lunch were included and Deniz chose some traditional Turkish items for us to try. Everything ran very smoothly on the tour, including being picked up by the driver to return us to our hotel. Highly recommend!

This was a great outing, albeit a little chilly and light rain. Our guide knew how to get to the front of the sites, and she was strategic about getting around the crowds. The sites were amazing, and so much history. Istanbul was a great experience and the four of us would never have seen half on our own. The Grand Bazaar was a little overwhelming but we managed-

We loved our tour guide. She was great! We learned a lot about the sites, and visited some stores where Turkish rugs are made and jewelry. The only thing about the Turkish rug place, we kind of felt like they thought we were going to buy one or should buy one but there was no way that was happening and it was a little awkward for moment. The rest of the tour was great and I would go back to Istanbul again.
