Set off on a tour that is truly for the bird and nature lovers, as you explore the famous Asa Wright Nature Centre, a unique bird sanctuary in the middle of rainforest. Spot tons of feeding hummingbirds from a historic veranda and take a guided walk through the forest. Then tour the beautiful Caroni Wetlands by boat and experience the home-flight of the Scarlet Ibis at sunset. Hang out on the open veranda overlooking the forested Arima valley, admiring dozens brilliant little hummingbirds come right up to the deck – feeding from hanging containers and nearby flowers. Watch for tegu lizards and the lively agoutis hunting for scraps! Next, go on an informative guided walk, you will surely spot humorous fellows like the bearded bellbird and the dancing manakins. Upon return to the veranda it’s time for a cool drink and a relaxing lunch (cost on own). The Caroni Bird Sanctuary is home to a stunning variety of wildlife. Board a spacious flat-bottomed boat to explore the waterways and open lagoons, marvel at the bizarre beauty of the mangrove roots and the wildlife —most impressively—the vibrant Scarlet Ibis. Watch flocks of these brilliant red birds soaring against the sunset and settling into the mangroves. What a beautiful day!
