The Experience

What your day looks like

Leave the city’s stress behind and head to the Swedish countryside, where rolling hills, farm pastures, and suburban landscapes welcome you. Travel from rural to royal and experience both Sigtuna, Sweden’s oldest preserved town, and Drottningholm Palace, home of the Swedish King and Queen. Close your eyes and travel back in time to a town founded long ago, in AD 980. Imagine townspeople loading and unloading goods from their boats, the smell of cattle in the air, and the sound of mint masters producing the land’s first coins. Welcome to Sigtuna, the first town of the Swedish Kingdom, founded by the Viking King Erik the Victorious. Wander the streets like the Vikings, visit the church ruins as priests once did, and explore the inner courtyard of charming wooden houses along the main street. It is also a great place to enjoy traditional Swedish fika at a café during some free time. We continue from rural to royal and leave this small town behind, heading to Drottningholm. Here you will find a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a palace, and a royal residence. This 400-year-old palace is one of the ten palaces used by the Swedish Royal Family. It is located on the shore of Lake Mälaren and features expansive grounds. Discover why it has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The palace, playhouse, and pavilion together make this a unique site. Take with you the scent of cinnamon buns, the fresh water of Lake Mälaren, and the countryside air as we return to Stockholm. The Swedish countryside truly offers a memorable experience.
