Brimstone Hill Fortress Hike
What your day looks like
Like the Rock of Gibraltar, Brimstone Hill Fortress has been contested by two European powers who fought for control of the hill and the island. Both the British and the French built forts to defend themselves from the Spanish and from each other. In 1689, the French captured British Fort Charles in Sandy Point by transporting cannons to Brimstone Hill, which conveniently overlooked the fort. The British then recaptured Fort Charles in 1690. Recognizing its strategic importance, the British began building this magnificent fortress. This is just a taste of the rich history you will explore on our exclusive hike. Brimstone Hill Fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the main attractions in St. Kitts and Nevis, rich in history and heritage. Pickup for this tour is at Port Zante Marina.
