The Experience

What your day looks like

Discover the Royal Palace of Madrid, a Baroque masterpiece and Europe’s largest royal residence. With over 3,400 rooms, this architectural marvel blends Italian and French influences, featuring grand hallssplendort décor, and priceless works of art. Though no longer a full-time royal residence, it remains an active site for state ceremonies and official events. On this intimate 2.5-hour small-group tour, our expert guide will lead you through the palace’s most spectacular chambers while sharing its fascinating history. Walk through the Crown Room, where the Spanish Crown and Royal Scepter are displayed—symbols of the enduring legacy of Spain’s monarchy. Step into the Banquet Hall, a grand space designed for lavish royal feasts, adorned with intricate plasterwork and glittering crystal chandeliers. Explore the Royal Chapel, an exquisite example of Baroque architecture, where Spain’s monarchs once worshipped beneath its grand domed ceiling. Along the way, discover masterpieces by Goya, Mengs, and Giaquinto, commissioned to decorate these regal halls. Conclude your visit admiring the Throne Room, where elaborate chandeliers and Tiepolo’s ceiling fresco frame the seat of Spanish power. By the end of this tour, you’ll have a deeper appreciation for Spain’s royal heritage and the architectural splendor of one of Europe’s most breathtaking palaces.

Beatriz was a fantastic guide during our tour of the Royal Palace in Madrid. She was once a history teacher and you could tell she loved telling us about the history of the Royal Palace and of her country. We had a private tour for three English-speaking people and Beatriz’s English was excellent. Plus with only 3 people, there was no need for headphones and we could ask as many questions as we wanted. I learned so much on this tour. It costs more than just the unguided entry fee, but you actually learn about the things you are seeing. Five stars and highly recommended!
