Private tour to DMZ and Half-day Seoul city tour including N Seoul Tower. You can adjust the itinerary to suit your need. Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) Korea is the only divided country in the world. After the Korean War (June 25, 1950 – July 27, 1953), South Korea and North Korea established a border that cut the Korean peninsula roughly in half. Stretching for 2km on either side of this border is the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). As one of the last relics of the Cold War, the DMZ attracts a great deal of public interest and is a popular destination for travelers visiting Korea. Despite the fact that this is the most heavily armed border in the world, it is extremely rare that any hostilities take place. These days the DMZ is a safe destination that we would thoroughly recommend to any traveler. The DMZ and its surroundings contain many interesting historical sights and pristine untouched natural surroundings. N Seoul Tower Seoul Tower opened to the public on October 15, 1980, and has since become a major tourist attraction. The 236.7-meter tower sits atop Namsan Mountain (243m). The observatory offers panoramic views of Seoul and the surrounding areas. Thirty years and countless visitors later, the structure was renamed ‘N Seoul Tower.’ The letter ‘N’ stands for the tower’s ‘new’ look, which resulted from a 15 billion won remodeling project in December 2005. With a new lighting system and changes to the tower’s overall color scheme, event coordinators can now decorate the tower for the season or events.

While I understand that some of this was out of my guide’s control, it was still a generally underwhelming experience. We arrived at Imjingak Park and he had to go inside to purchase the DMZ tour tickets. I was under the impression that it would be quick, and he pointed me to a small cafe/lounge area where I could grab a quick breakfast. I hurriedly grabbed a few small things, thinking I didn’t have much time. But he did not return for over an hour and a half (I honestly started wondering if he had taken my passport and left). He finally returned with our tickets for the 10:30 tour. We still had some time so he rushed me through some of the things in Imjingak Park…had I realized it would be so long before the tour and that there were so many things there, I would have happily explored it on my own while he purchased the tickets. So, even though I was there for about 2.5 hours I barely saw anything. Then, we got to the Third Tunnel but we never actually went in the tunnel - we had limited time there and the guide was afraid we didn’t have enough time to go in the tunnel (arguably the highlight of the entire tour!). Instead, we stood around by the bus waiting for everyone else on the bus to finish their tour of the tunnel. The Dora Observatory was fine. But the last stop, the unification village, was also very rushed…we only had 15 minutes to run through the store. Again, I understand that some of this is due to the DMZ tour operators, but overall it was a very long and expensive day to not see much of anything.

Our guide was excellent. He went to great links to make sure that we had a great time and shared so many interesting facts! He was enthusiastic and excited about us seeing his country! As a bonus afterwards we got to see the Korean War memorial. It’s one of the most beautiful memorials I’ve ever seen in my life. Our guy was so knowledgeable about the history of Korea and the DMZ zone. This is the day that we will never forget!

Would have preferred a tour of the JSA, but that was not available. Overall tour was very good.
