This private 4-day garden route tour gives you a chance to explore the entire garden route in a short space of time. Pick-up is provided at your convenience, either from Cape Town or Port Elizabeth. 4-star Accommodation is also included and so is a private air-conditioned vehicle. This garden route tour is also open for personalization and our guides are very capable in assisting in curating the tour to meet your needs. Our guides will stay with you during the entire duration of the trip and will provide you with dinner service when required.

Your day, step by step

City/Town Tour. Cape Town to Oudtshoorn Robertson: Known as a small town with a big heart and is situated in the foothills of the jaw-dropping Langerberg and the Riviersonerend mountain. Robertson, lying only an hour and a half Northeast of Cape Town is the gateway to the famous Route 62. With 150 years of history, Robertson has grown into one of the most attractive Cape Winelands towns. The town boasts of over 50 wineries and tourism establishments. Guests will be more than welcome to stop at one of the wineries for a wine-tasting experience before proceeding toward Oudtshoorn.

Sightseeing. Montagu: Situated at the confluence of the Keisie and Kigna rivers, Montagu is the epitome of a silent getaway. Unique Cape Dutch architectural buildings grace her town streets and the hot mineral spring resort is very popular with people visiting from as far as Cape Town. Montagu is also an agricultural center cultivating fruits, vineyards, and local herbs. Montagu’s highest elevation point Bloupunt is also quite frequented by local and visiting hikers.

Sightseeing at Swartberg. Oudtshoorn: Oudtshoorn is in the Klein Karoo, between the Oteniqua and the Swartberg mountains. Oudtshoorn is the Ostrich Capital of the world. The world's biggest bird is one of the many attractions in this area of exceptional contrast and natural beauty. The region is also home to the spectacular Cango caves that are located in the Precambrian limestone. The principal cave is one of the country's finest and most visited by locals and overseas tourists. Here you will be able to take part in a 60-minute standard guided tour whereby you will be shown all the 4 chambers of the principal cave. Guests are also advised to put on comfortable shoes for this walking tour.

Sightseeing at Cango Caves. Cango Caves: The Cango Caves are Africa's largest show caves and one of the Seven Wonders of Southern Africa, which makes the Cango Caves the archaeological and historical highlight of the Klein Karoo.

Sightseeing at Swartberg. It lies 29km from Oudtshoorn in the picturesque Cango Valley and is situated in a limestone ridge that runs parallel to the well-known Swartberg Mountains here you’ll find the finest dripstone caves, with their massive halls and towering limestone formations in a variety of colors.

It was originally thought to be only about 1km long, but the caves have been discovered to extend naturally for well over 5km - however, it could be even longer, larger, and more mysterious than current estimates. You can visit approximately one-quarter of the entire 5km system of interlinking tunnels. The rest is closed for conservation purposes.

Visit the Incubator Room and see chicks hatching inside the incubator – also get a real close and personal perspective of chicks piping out by means of a “Spy-Camera” inside the incubator onto a big screen T.V. -Watch how ostrich eggs are carved. -See, touch, and learn about Ostrich Leather. -See, touch, and learn about all the different types of Ostrich Feathers. -Learn about Ostrich's evolution and significance to past cultures.

Eco Tour. Redberry Farm: Perched up in the farmlands that lie northeast of George Town is Redberry farm. A pleasant and vibrant strawberry farm where visitors can enjoy strawberry picking and artisan eateries. Redberry Farm is also known to be the best family hang-out spot on the garden route and offers pony rides, and bumper boats and also has a beautiful maze that even adults can find amusing.

Sightseeing at Outeniqua Pass. Outeniqua pass: Taking traffic from the semi-desert Oudtshoorn towards the Indian Ocean is the Outeniqua pass. Meaning "Laden with honey" in an almost extinct native language, the Outeniqua pass is a beautiful example of good engineering work. The pass has 40 bends, curves, and turns that are over 90 degrees. The highest point at the Outeniqua Pass is 800m above sea level and also provides one with beautiful views of George Town and the Indian Ocean.

City/Town Tour. Knysna: Knysna meaning ferns is a beautiful coastal town in the heart of the famous garden route, situated on a warm water estuary that is fed from the Knysna River. The estuary opens up to the Indian Ocean after passing two large headlands that are known as the Knysna heads. The heads are frequented by visitors as they give you a beautiful view of the Knysna town. There are also long gold sandy beaches that run along the Western head and are popular with surfers, swimmers, and beach walkers. Knysna has a typical moderate garden route climate. Temperatures usually stay between 25- and 10 degrees Celsius throughout the year.

Eco Tour. There are many activities that you can enjoy while in Knysna, from boat-based activities such as whale watching and the featherbed eco-tour. Knysna is also well known for golfing. A few golf courses such as Pezula Golf Course, Simola Golf Course, and Knysna Golf Course are known to be some of the best golf courses in the country.

Boating. Featherbed Eco tour: Hop on to the featherbed cruise boat to witness the plethora of the calm Knysna lagoon waters and the stunning Knysna heads. Once the boat docks, you will be driven up the Knysna eastern head on 4x4 vehicles to enjoy the beautiful views of Knysna from above while your guides share with you the information about the flora, fauna, and geology of this beautiful town.

Sightseeing at Tsitsikamma National Park. Knysna to Port Elizabeth - Tsitsikamma National park: Tsitsikamma National Parks rest in the Tsitsikamma forest area, an indigenous forest that separates the 2 provinces of the Eastern Cape and the Western Cape. The national park is a big attraction to travelers along the garden route. A range of activities can be enjoyed here, from Hiking to the famous suspension bridge to kayaking up the Storm’s River gorge. Tsitsikamma also makes a great spot for birdlife watching, both coastal and land-based birds. From Tsitsikamma National Park, you can also take a 15-minute drive to Tsitsikamma village where you could also enjoy another range of activities such as Zipline, tubing, Ezzi Scooter tours, etc.

Sightseeing at Bloukrans Bridge Bungy. Bloukraans bridge: Bloukrans Bungee Bridge Suspended at a height of 216m, it is the highest commercial bungee jumping bridge in the world. The bungee jumping activity is conducted by the renowned Face Adrenaline and at Bloukrans is the perfect place for anyone to face their fears. The jump from the free fall is about 60m deep and followed by 6 swings once the rope is finished. There is also an optional zipline from the entrance to the bridge to the bungee platform. There is also a restaurant at Bloukrans should one be required to grab a bite.
