Private Stories of UNESCO Idrija from Ljubljana
What your day looks like
From Ljubljana directly to the Unesco town of Idrija. First stop is at Anthony’s Shaft the oldest preserved entrance to the mercury mine in Idrija and one of the oldest in Europe. It was named after St. Anthony of Padua, the cave patron and protector of disasters. We will continue with a city tour of Idrija and a demonstration of lacemaking. Some free time to relax or have lunch in one of the local taverns in town. The tour continues to the Wild Lake followed by one of the highlights of this tour Hospital Franja, which operated as a partisan hospital, in extremely difficult conditions and hardly accessible area, during World War 2.
