The journey, in full
We will start the tour at the SNP Square, which is ideal for the general introduction to 20th century history of Slovakia and Bratislava. You will hear and see the photos from different political regimes, before we start the engine. You will visit the Kmeťovo Nám. with first concrete prefabricated block in Slovakia and the post-industrial developement. Get ready for interesting historical info as well as personal stories. While driving you will see several surprising buildings from the communism era, like the inverted pyramid. After the short stop at the Square of Freedom with its magnificent fountain and passing beside the presidental palace we head to our "Beverly Hills" - you can admire the villas of the former communist leaders. Get ready for the highlight of the tour - the Slavín Monument and WW2 cemetery of the Soviet soldiers, a popular spot for the locals especially on weekend. What can you expect next? A picturesque view to Austria, another of our short stops - imagine that till 1989 people could just dream to cross the border. Get ready for the longest ride, we cross the Danube river via the iconic "UFO" Bridge to the city part of Petržalka - the vast concrete housing estate from 1970s-1980s. Full of new info and fun you will be driven back to the city centre.
