What your day looks like
Our Glenfinnan, Glencoe, and Fort William Adventure begin in the heart of Edinburgh city center, at our departure point on the Royal Mile. Departing Edinburgh's bustling streets, pass some of its most iconic sights like Edinburgh Castle on your way out, and begin your journey north into the rugged Scottish Highlands. We pause for refreshments at Callander, the gateway to the Highlands, before continuing to Glencoe. The well-known, dramatic Glen features in many films, such as James Bonds' Skyfall, and is the backdrop to some scenes from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, perfect to get you in the mood to visit the famous "Harry Potter Bridge" that you will see later in the tour. We pause here for photos and to learn all about the history of Glencoe, including the massacre of the MacDonald clan in 1692. From the atmospheric Glencoe, we travel further along the banks of Loch Linnhe to the Highland town of Fort William, which sits at the foot of Britain's tallest mountain - Ben Nevis. We stop here to allow you to stretch your legs and have an early lunch break before we journey onwards to the Glenfinnan Viaduct. The Glenfinnan Viaduct was arguably made most famous from its scenes in Harry Potter and is surrounded by mountains on the stunning shores of Loch Shiel. Not only is this location famous for the Jacobite Steam Train (not to be confused with the Hogwarts Express), Loch Sheil was the location of the "Black Lake". See if you can spot a "grindylow" causing trouble under the surface! It's also the setting for Buckbeak's beautiful flight, scenes from the Triwizard Tournament, and the stunning loch on which Hogwarts sits. We take in the viaduct and a photo opportunity before a visit to the nearby Glenfinnan Monument, which symbolizes one of the most important events in Scottish history; the 1745 Jacobite uprising. Departing Glenfinnan, we begin our return journey to Edinburgh, stopping along the way for refreshments at the small village of Pitlochry. Enjoy time to stretch your legs and grab a quick bite to eat before we return to Edinburgh where our Glenfinnan, Glencoe, and Fort William Adventure will end. Total Distance - 280 miles

The tour and guide were amazing however they changed the meeting point without letting us know so we almost missed the tour. They had to come pick us up from the original meeting point and we ended up being about 30 minutes late - super stressful start to the day. But the tour was beautiful and the guide was great, he had special music to match each location and the views were beautiful too.

While our bus driver was very knowledgeable and friendly, there should really be two drivers to provide rest options for the driver. Or at least, a tour guide who presents the info and keeps everyone together as needed. It’s a lot for one person on a 12 hour tour. The stop at the farm outside of Stirling was lovely, Shorten the stop at Glenfinnan and lengthen the stop in Pitlochry. I chose this tour primarily for the Ft. William stop and was sorely disappointed in where we stopped. It was too far from anything and I did not have time to explore. Food options were disappointing there. Better off stopping at a Tesco. I very much appreciated the stops in the highlands to take stunning photos. And the stop at Neptune’s stairs was an unexpected treat. Fascinating! As a travel advisor who had four clients with her on this tour, I found the “purchase direct” speech at the end very offensive and surprising. We use PE regularly as the reputation of providing reputable sources and tours is solid but if this type of push is the norm for companies that are being offered by PE, then I will not be so eager to use the source. I want to be able to send my clients on a tour on which they don’t get made to feel guilty that they purchased through me.

This tour was fantastic! Shug was knowledge and entertaining. We saw so much of Scotland and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend!
