What your day looks like

The 2-day Gorilla trekking safari in Rwanda starts and ends Kigali to Volcanoes National Park. During this safari, you will encounter the endangered Mountain Gorillas in their natural habitat of volcanoes national park which is 3 hours drive away from Kigali in the North West corner of Rwanda. The flourishing lush slopes of these extinct Virunga volcanoes offer a dramatic natural setting for the most thrilling wildlife experiences. There are 97% chances of seeing mountain gorillas in volcanoes national parks. The park is also home to the elusive golden monkeys, buffalos, colobus monkeys among others. You will also tour Kigali city, here we shall have all the proposed sites shared by your safari guide and you have the chance to choose which you prefer most to visit and which should be eliminated from the list. Engage with the safari guide concerning your interests around the city for example the tour to the genocide memorial, museums, local markets, and monuments.

City/Town Tour at Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. Welcome to Rwanda! Safari guide briefs you about the 2-day Gorilla trekking safari in Rwanda, then after head out for the Kigali city tour, Visit the Genocide memorial site for observation and learning about the shading of blood during the 1994 genocide and also visit some local markets.

Cultural Immersion. Hanging with the locals Embark on the transfer to Volcanoes National park which is 80km north of Kigali city with an altitude of 2400m to 4,507m. Upon arrival at the park, we shall a cultural tour of the Ibywachu village.

Have dinner and overnight as you prepare for gorilla trekking adventure the next day. Meal Plan: Breakfast and Lunch will be served at their time.

Day 2

Kigali

Eco Tour. Catching up with the cousins transfer to the Kinigi Park headquarters by 7:00 am for the briefing about the do’s and don’ts of the Gorilla Trekking activity. After the briefing, embark on the Mountain Gorilla trekking via the paths in the bamboo forests, this adventurous activity takes between 2 to 6 hours to track the mountain gorillas. When you meet the gorillas face to face you will observe them jumping from branch to branch, feeding, playing, and grooming. Only 1 hour is given to trekkers to keep closer to these gentle giants. You will also spot buffaloes, monkeys, birds, and forest elephants through the forests.
