This exclusive immersion is a curated journey into the ancestral heart of Afro-Puerto Rican heritage. Set in the coastal town of Loíza—the cultural epicenter of the island—the experience transitions from a historical overview of Puerto Rico’s oldest African-influenced rhythm to a physical celebration of resistance and liberation. Led by master instructor Sheila, this session offers a rare opportunity to connect with a living tradition that has served as a powerful tool for expression and community building for centuries. The session takes place in a traditional "batey" situated by the ocean, where the natural acoustics of the waves complement the live beat of the barrels (drums). Participants move beyond the basics of dance to understand the mechanical dialogue between the drummer and the dancer, a hallmark of Bomba, where the dancer dictates the rhythm through their movements. This VIP class provides an intimate space to experience why Bomba remains a vital story of Puerto Rican identity, told through every synchronized step and drumbeat.
