Explore these amazing organisms up close as your professional eco-guides take you to discover all its secrets. Learn how this fragile and unique ecosystem maintains a perfect balance of life and what you can do to protect such a special place. This famous 2 hour bio bay kayak tour includes interesting interpretations of the reserve's fragile ecology, star constellations and a fascinating encounter with billions of bioluminescent organisms. Watch how every stroke of your paddle leaves behind a glowing swirl of blue light and fish light up their path like shooting stars in the water. What to Bring
- Cell phone (in the event that we need to contact you or you need to contact us prior to the excursion) - Comfortable clothes that can get wet (we recommend a bathing suit or active wear) - Shoes that can get wet (flip-flops are fine) - Towel and change of clothes for after the excursion (optional) - DO NOT BRING ANY VALUABLES OR ITEMS THAT CANNOT GET WET – lost items are very hard to find in the water at night, and anything you take with you will get wet!
Restrictions
Maximum Weight Limit: 240 lbs per one person | 425 lbs combined per kayak Minimum Age: 6 years old | Participants Ages 6-13 must be accompanied by an adult on the same kayak | Participants Ages 14-17 must have an adult participating on the tour. The following guests cannot participate: Pregnant women Guests with recent surgeries Guests with neck, back, arm or leg problems or casts Guests who have epilepsy, heart conditions and/or dizziness Other important notes: Odd numbered parties will be merged during the tour. We cannot accommodate 3 participants in one kayak. All guests must be able to communicate in English or Spanish. Guests that show signs of intoxication by Drugs or Alcohol will not be allowed to participate. You are responsible for sharing the information throughout this email with the rest of your group and for notifying us ahead of time with any concerns about your health or physical condition for the excursion. Cancellation policy 48 hours in advance without penalty. Transportation Not Included: If you decide to take a Taxi or an Uber, we suggest making arrangements roundtrip. Keep in mind these services are Not Available to Book on the spot after the tour.
Meeting & Pickup
Meeting point at Kayak Village in the area of Las Croabas, Fajardo Meet you host at Kiosk #11, second one on your right side after entering the gate. Parking is available free of charge, on the roundabout towards the left side. Also, public restrooms can be found on the first floor of the building located in the center of the roundabout. Transportation Not Included. You may rent a Car, Taxi or Uber. If you decide to take a Taxi or Uber, *make sure they can provide round trip transportation. Generally these options are not available on the spot from Fajardo.

Great setup, easy to find and very well-organized company that communicated everything needed ahead of time! The bio bay was cool and I appreciated the inclusion of tarps on each kayak to make sure we could see the full sparkle for a moment. The staff were fantastic and personable and did a great job keeping the group together. They took pictures as well and sent those out afterward which was a nice touch. A few small cons I'd like to mention: multiple tours are running from the kayak village at once and it got a bit hectic trying to pass another line of kayaks in the narrow lagoon. Also, very little time was spent actually observing the glow, and there was no time to explore away from the group (unlike my experience kayaking at the bio bay in Vieques where we had time to paddle out a bit). The tour focused a bit too much on efficiency versus allowing us to actually experience being there. Bug spray was briefly passed around at the beginning but it wasn't adequate to keep away the constant mosquito bites, would recommend applying a LOT! haha. All in all a good experience, but I would go with a company outside of the kayak village next time.

I rated it a 4 because of the "low glow". The guides were amazing and the trip through the mangroves was quite an experience. It was extremely dark which made for a spectacular night sky with a bunch of stars visible. Plus, on the way back to the shore we were treated with a gorgeous moon coming over the tree lines. The guides were very also very friendly, informative and made you feel safe during the entire tour.

Incredible! The conditions were not ideal for seeing the bioluminescence, but the guides really help us to see it. We also brought my son and they sat us 3 to a kayak so we could all see it together. It was one of the most amazing things we've ever done. I can't wait to go back and see it again.

One of the greatest experiences we've ever had while kayaking through the rainforest. The Bio Bay was underwhelming though, but kayaking down the river was still worth the trip.
