Cusco - Cusipata - Rainbow Mountain - Cusipata - Cusco Our adventure begins with an early pickup from your accommodation in Cusco at around 4:30 a.m. We then travel for approximately two hours in comfortable tourist transport toward the southern Andes, stopping along the way at a local restaurant for breakfast. You will have time to enjoy a warm meal, use the restrooms, and prepare for the hike ahead. As we continue toward the trailhead, you will pass open fields filled with llamas and alpacas, with the Ausangate mountain range rising in the distance. The hike to Rainbow Mountain usually takes between 1.5 and 2 hours. We will walk at a comfortable pace and take breaks whenever needed, allowing you to enjoy the changing scenery and adjust to the altitude. The views become more impressive as we climb. Along the way, your guide will explain the geological history of the area and how its mineral-rich soil created the mountain’s famous colors. At the viewpoint, you will have time to rest, take photos, and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding Andes. We then continue with an additional short hike to Red Valley, known for its deep red hills and quieter atmosphere. After taking in the scenery, we return to the trailhead and then continue to the restaurant for lunch before driving back to Cusco, arriving at approximately 5:30 p.m.
