A mouth-watering traditional Omani food experience dining with a local family at their house in historic Hayl Al Yaman village on top of Jebel Al Akhdar mountain surrounded by beautiful nature with stunning views. Nizwa Souq: Nizwa is a former capital of the Sultanate with deep Omani traditions. A visit to its old market is a great way to get familiar with local cuisine and culinary culture by learning about different spices used in the preparation of food, tasting many varieties of Omani halwa, dates, and freshly baked bread. Also, stop at a colorful fish market trading in daily catch supplied by local fishermen. Lunch – Shuwa: We drive to Jebel Al Akhdar to meet the Omani family and have the famous Shuwa for lunch which has been cooking slowly in an underground pit for 5 hours already. Nature Walk: A very relaxing nature walk to admire fruit, vegetable and rose gardens on man-made terraces alongside the mountain. Dinner - Mishkak: Mishkak is perhaps the most popular dish in Oman and it will be served for dinner in a wonderful setting with amazing views. The treat is grilled juicy skewers of marinated meats served with various sauces, tamarind being a classic choice.
