The Experience

What your day looks like

Get ready for an unforgettable day cycling through the Dutch countryside on an electric bike as we make our way from Amsterdam to the world-famous windmill village of Zaanse Schans. This 5.5-hour guided tour is packed with iconic Dutch sights — think windmills, cheese tasting, and a clog-making demonstration — all while cruising through quiet bike paths, charming villages, and nature reserves. We’ll start the day at our shop near Amsterdam Central Station and take a short ferry across the river to escape the city. From there, we’ll cycle past green fields, canals, and picturesque farmland. Along the way, we’ll stop for photos at the quirky Inntel Hotel in Zaandam, known for its stacked house design. At Zaanse Schans, you’ll have time to explore on your own — visit working windmills, watch a traditional clog-making demo, and enjoy a cheese tasting at a local farm. On the return, we’ll take a different route through the beautiful village of Haaldersbroek and the Twiske Nature Reserve, wrapping up back in Amsterdam by mid-afternoon. With top-quality electric bikes, a passionate local guide, and a small group size (max. 15 guests), this tour is the perfect mix of nature, culture, and adventure — a must-do while in Amsterdam!

We had a wonderful Dutch countryside biking experience with Mike's Bikes! Our bike tour leader was friendly and knowledgeable. He took us on a safe and beautiful route. The windmill stop was our favorite where we met the miller and got to take a picture on the ladder of the windmill. Bikes were easy to ride. A great day!

Clients, a mom and her two college aged daughters did this activity. They said it was well organized and very fun. The owner of one of the windmill homes was at home when they passed by and the guide knew him, so he allowed the group to see his home, and they even got to climb up the windmill. Overall they were very happy with this tour! Highly recommend.

Not what ew expected. Better. After dodging bikers in the streets of Amsterdam we didn't know what to expect. Going countryside and seeing windmills up close the highlight. Also a great guide.

This was an absolutely wonderful way to see a bit more than just Amsterdam on my recent trip to the Netherlands. The e-bikes were easy to use and our tour guide Anne was knowledgeable, careful, and very pleasant. Seeing Zaaanse Schans itself was just ok in my opinion (very touristy), the highlight for me was the journey through the beautiful countryside and adorable towns getting there and back. Highly recommend!
