The Experience

What your day looks like

Guests are introduced to the living craft traditions of Marrakech through an immersive, hands-on journey within the medina. Moving beyond observation, the experience is designed to engage directly with the artisans and techniques that have shaped the city’s identity for generations. Throughout the day, guests visit three carefully selected workshops, each offering a different perspective on Moroccan craftsmanship — from shaping raw materials to refining finished pieces. Under the guidance of skilled artisans, there are opportunities to participate in the process, learning basic techniques while hearing the stories, history, and cultural significance behind each craft. The experience includes an artisan-style lunch set within a riad or creative space, providing time to relax and connect the morning’s discoveries with the flavours of Moroccan cuisine. The day concludes with a shared meal that reflects the spirit of the experience — thoughtful, local, and rooted in tradition — leaving guests with both a deeper understanding of Moroccan craftsmanship and a meaningful connection to the people behind it.

One of my favorite tours in Marrakech! Our guide took us into the souks to meet local experts as they created handmade products. We began the day with tea and learned to make chicken tangia. As that cooked, we visited a leather shop, plaster shop and even painted our own wooden ornament to take home. I did the same tour last year and that included a visit to a metal worker. At each stop, we were able to try our hand at the artistry. We ended the tour with the lunch we prepared in the morning. Highly recommend!

This was a fantastic tour and included much more than we expected. There were only 2 of us on the tour. We made our way through the medina and made a stop at a tiny kitchen run by a woman and her mother. Fatima taught us how to prepare a tanjia with chicken and preserved lemon. We then walked to the community oven to leave it to cook while we continued our tour. We visited the artisan souks where the craftsmen hand make metal, wood, leather and ceramic goods. We got to try our hand at making things and even left with some souvenirs we created. The tour ended with a nice lunch back at Fatima's! Truly a wonderful look into the lives of the local artisans. Such fun!
