What your day looks like
Guided tour in Old Town Kotor starts at the main gate. You will have about 45 minutes long tour through Old Town and you will see Clock Tower, St Tryphon Cathedral, old palaces and churches, and Maritime museum. Small squares, narrow streets and old stone buildings will make a visit to this medieval town unforgettable. From Kotor you will have short ride along the coast to small baroque town Perast. There you will have organized boat ride to man-made island Our Lady of the Rocks. There are churches and museums on the island, and the guide will tell you about its origin and history. When you finish your visit to the island, you will have free time to visit Perast and see its famous aristocratic palaces. On the way back you will have several stops for taking photos. Tour will end at the port gate.

Off the ship 30 minutes early and our guide Alexandar was already waiting. Surprise-"Private" tour meant just the 3 of us, which was perfect for what we needed. I had specifically booked this trip and tour to see where my great-grandmother grew up. Alex looked at pictures I had and immediately said we'd pop into the maritime museum in Kotor and the Perast museum to speak to them. He also said we'd definitely find the family's palace and he knew exactly where it is. He didn't usually take his tours that direction, but he was excited to see it too, and he was happy to have the opportunity to learn about it. The walking tour was awesome in Kotor. We enjoyed learning about all the sailing and trade history of the area. At the Kotor museum, Alex took time to explain who I was and my interest in the Čorko family, but found that we should definitely check with the Perast branch. Alex was even doing some research on the name! The exploration of Our Lady was interesting, especially the displayed needlework done in hair!? At the Perast museum, Alex spoke with an employee who was thrilled to meet me since she said so few of the old family members return. It was especially helpful to have him translate and question her for more information. He gave me time to talk with her and share pictures and information I had. Alex mentioned at the beginning of the tour that he loved private tours because they give him a chance to make a real connection. I think we really did connect and my family and I will forever be grateful for his guidance, patience, and the extra opportunities he was happy to incorporate into our tour. It was such an emotional and special tour.

Our group had a blast on that private tour! Miroslav, our guide, was awesome and super knowledgeable. We couldn't get enough of Montenegro's beauty and had a blast exploring the old town while soaking up its history. The drive to Perast was quick, and the boat ride to Our Lady of the Rocks was a highlight. Plus, having some free time to do our thing made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
