The Experience

What your day looks like

Get to know the wonders that the Mexican Caribbean has for you with the best catamaran tour departing from Cancun. You have the opportunity to snorkel at MUSA. An amazing place that combines the seabed with human creativity by having sculptures that remain underwater. Be amazed when you see nature seize these human works and claim them as its own. Also, observe the different marine species that swim around you during your snorkeling tour. It would be good for you to know the Caribbean mood of Isla Mujeres, the catamaran will arrive at the main dock of the island and you will have approximately 2 hours to visit the center of the Island. Isla Mujeres is one of the three Magical Towns in Quintana Roo, for which it is very worth visiting. Enjoy a buffet lunch and a national open bar at the "Discovery Island" beach club, a beautiful place where you can relax on a lounge chair to sunbathe and use its various facilities such as swimming pools.

Upon checking in, the operator notified me that they did not have my reservation for the 4 of us to be on the tour. I showed the confirmation number, confirmation email I had received from them, and my travel agency receipt to which they acted like meant nothing. They asked us to come back another day to which I refused. After all, I am on vacation and only have a few days in Cancun. We were put over on the side while everyone else was boarding what we thought was our boat. After everyone was boarded and the boat started to depart, we were then addressed. This was very stressful as we thought the boat was leaving without us. They finally called someone at their "office" and got permission to allow us to join the tour. We were told we would not be able to snorkel because the ocean was too rough. I asked if there was a partial refund for no snorkel to which I was told no. We were then loaded onto a catamaran with some other people and took off. The water was rough that day. The boat is nothing like the pictures. Very industrial looking type boat. The crew were VERY nice and wanted to make sure we were comfortable. They did offer us drinks which was great! There was no continental breakfast on the boat., which was advertised. Once we arrived at the island, we had time to run into the town and rent golf carts to drive around and go shop. We had a great lunch at a place called The Joint. That was awesome! Got back to the boat and we sailed over to the Isla Discovery club. We were taken to the stingray and shark area to put on goggles and view the stingrays and shark. That was very underwhelming. They animals are down on the bottom of the ocean, so you can barely see them. We then had the buffet lunch. The food was sub-par. Typical buffet food-bland. The drinks were small and they staff was running around trying to grab used cups to take back and wash quickly so that the bar could continue to serve drinks. That was a little unsettling. After a couple of hours, we were back on the boat heading back to Cancun. We were overall disappointed in this excursion. If you want to Isla Mujeres, organize your own water taxi over and explore on your own.
