The journey, in full

Immerse yourself in the enchanting north of Martinique, where nature’s splendor meets a tapestry of history. Our Authentic North tour promises an unforgettable journey through landscapes that define the essence of our island. Your adventure begins at the cruise port or in downtown Fort-de-France, where you’ll meet your knowledgeable guide. Step aboard our comfortable, air-conditioned transport, designed for a small group of up to 18 travelers. Let yourself be driven into the city of Fort de France with a first visit to the picturesque Church of Balata, a stunning replica of Paris’ Sacré-Cœur nestled amidst tropical greenery. Feel the serenity of Alma River as you take in the lush surroundings with your toes dipped in its refreshing waters. Continue along the scenic Route de la Trace, a path through the island’s lush rainforest, leading to the captivating Saut du Gendarme waterfall. A brief, pleasant stroll unveils this tranquil oasis, where clear waters cascade into a natural sanctuary. Journey onward to St Pierre, once Martinique’s bustling capital until the devastating eruption of Mount Pelée in 1902. Explore the ruins that still echo its vibrant past, set against the backdrop of the majestic volcano. Conclude your expedition at Carbet Beach, where azure waters lap against volcanic sands. Relax and rejuvenate by the sea, and indulge in a rum tasting under the shade of almond trees, learning about our renowned Rhum Agricole production. Return to Fort-de-France along the scenic coast, savoring panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea. Your day concludes with optional exploration of downtown Fort-de-France, where you can dine at local restaurants, delve into the history of Fort Saint Louis or visit Schoelcher’s library. Please note, our itinerary may adapt slightly due to weather conditions or local events, ensuring your journey remains seamless and memorable.

The Authentic North Tour opened our eyes to a Martinique that we didn't expect. Little did we know that a rain forest, waterfall, "rivers" and volcano existed on the island. We enjoyed learning about this part of the island, and visiting the black sand beach (didn't know they existed on the island). Looking forward to returning to explore more of the island, that we've previously skipped in other port visits.

We had a lovely day exploring Martinique. The guide was very nice and offered great details about the French island. We enjoyed our time in the rainforest and especially seeing the waterfalls. A note regarding the waterfall - it could be difficult for some to get to. We would have liked a little more time to explore St Pierre, and this stop felt a little rushed. The black sand beach was a nice stop, but very few in our group really took the time to swim or sit by the ocean. At the beach, we did get a rum tasting and our guide’s mother made us a very tasty cake to try. One thing to note - our tour did not start until 10am, so our return back was not until 2:30pm. Because this went over a main “lunchtime” for many, it would have been nice to have a little longer stop maybe in St Pierre to grab a snack, as several people were getting very hungry. However, if that is not an option, I might recommend for travelers to bring along a snack or water. Overall, a nice way to explore Martinique.

Excellent tour and excellent tour guide. Tour was just the right length. Boat was spacious and easy to move around on. Really enjoyed the rum punch but there was water and juices for those who did not want the punch. They also had light snacks as well
