Luang Prabang: Mountain Trek to Kuang Si Waterfall with Lunch

Start your day with breakfast at your hotel before meeting your local guide. Travel approximately one hour through the mountainous countryside surrounding Luang Prabang, enjoying panoramic views of rolling hills, forested slopes, and rural landscapes along the way. Your first stop is Ban Long Lao village, a quiet mountain community where you can observe daily village life. Walk through the village, interact with residents, and learn about traditional practices, farming techniques, and local customs in northern Laos. From Ban Long Lao, begin a three-hour trek through a protected conservation valley. The trail passes through shaded forest paths, open fields, and gentle hills. Along the route, your guide will highlight native plants, birds, and wildlife while explaining the area’s ecological importance. The trek concludes at the iconic Kuang Si Waterfall, a multi-tiered limestone cascade famous for its turquoise pools. Here, you’ll have time to relax, swim, and enjoy the natural beauty of the falls. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the peaceful surroundings of the waterfall. After lunch, continue walking to the nearby Bear Rescue Centre, a sanctuary dedicated to the protection of endangered Asiatic black bears rescued from illegal wildlife trade. Learn about conservation efforts while observing the bears in their natural enclosure. Before returning to Luang Prabang, stop at the Tar Pan village market, where you can browse traditional handicrafts and souvenirs such as handwoven textiles and locally made items at reasonable prices. End the day with a scenic drive back to Luang Prabang City Centre.
