Welcome to Jordan! Upon arrival to Amman Queen Alia International Airport our representative will meet you before the passport control at your terminal and take you through the immigration taking care of the visa arrangements and passport checking.

Day 2

City/Town Tour at Arch of Hadrian (Jerash). Jerash & beyond Breakfast at the hotel, drive to visit a close second to Petra on the list of favorite destinations in Jordan: the ancient city of Jerash, which boasts an unbroken chain of human occupation dating back more than 6,500 years. Jerash lies on a plain surrounded by hilly wooded areas and fertile basins. Conquered by General Pompey in 63 BC, it came under Roman rule and was one of the ten great Roman cities of the Decapolis League. The city's golden age came under Roman rule, during which time it was known as Gerasa, and the site is now generally acknowledged to be one of the best-preserved Roman provincial towns in the world. Hidden for centuries in sand before being excavated and restored over the past 70 years, Jerash reveals a fine example of the grand, formal provincial Roman urbanism that is found throughout the Middle East, comprising paved and colonnaded streets, soaring hilltop temples, handsome theatres, spacious public squares and plazas, baths, fountains, and city walls pierced by towers and gates. Beneath its external Graeco-Roman veneer, Jerash also preserves a subtle blend of east and west. Its architecture, religion, and languages reflect a process by which two powerful cultures meshed and coexisted - The Graeco-Roman world of the Mediterranean basin and the traditions of the Arab Orient. The modern city of Jerash can be found to the east of the ruins. While the old and new share a city wall, careful preservation and planning have seen the city develop well away from the ruins, ensuring no encroachment on the ancient sites. Drive to the Dead Sea, enjoy a swim and lunch package at the Dead Sea Holiday Inn Resort: Pools open from 08:30 AM till sunset. Beach opens from 06:30 AM till sunset. Lunch available from 01:00 PM till 04:00 PM. Towels are available at the resort.

Archaeological Exploration at Petra. Petra visit Breakfast at the hotel, drive to visit Petra, the world wonder, which is undoubtedly Jordan's most valuable treasure and greatest tourist attraction, visited by tourists from all over the world. It is not known precisely when Petra was built, but the city began to prosper as the capital of the Nabataean Empire from the 1st century BC, growing rich through trade in frankincense, myrrh, and spices. Petra was later annexed to the Roman Empire and continued to thrive until a large earthquake in 363 AD destroyed much of the city in the 4th century AD. The earthquake, combined with changes in trade routes, eventually led to the downfall of the city, which was ultimately abandoned. By the middle of the 7th century, Petra appears to have been largely deserted and was then lost to all except local Bedouin from the area. In 1812, a Swiss explorer named Johannes Burckhardt set out to ‘rediscover’ Petra; he dressed up as an Arab and convinced his Bedouin guide to take him to the lost city. After this, Petra became increasingly known in the West as a fascinating and beautiful ancient city, attracting visitors and continuing to do so today. Petra is also known as the rose-red city, a name it gets from the wonderful color of the rock from which many of the city’s structures were carved. The Nabataeans buried their dead in intricate tombs that were cut out of the mountainsides, and the city also had temples, a theater, and, following the Roman annexation and later Byzantine influence, a colonnaded street and churches. In addition to the magnificent remains of the Nabataean city, human settlement and land use for over 10,000 years can be traced in Petra, where great natural, cultural, archaeological, and geological features merge. On December 6, 1985, Petra was designated a World Heritage Site. Petra was also chosen by Smithsonian Magazine as one of the 28 places you should visit before you die.

What to Bring
Skin Care: The mineral-rich mud is great for skin, so don’t miss the chance to apply some Dead Sea mud while floating in the water. It’s a unique experience and highly beneficial for your skin. Don’t Shave: Avoid shaving before visiting the Dead Sea, as the saltwater can irritate freshly shaved skin. Avoid Getting Water in Your Eyes: The salinity of the Dead Sea can sting if it gets in your eyes, so be careful when floating or swimming Petra Tips: Wear Comfortable Shoes: Petra involves significant walking and hiking. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes suitable for rocky and uneven terrain. Exploration: If you have extra time, explore beyond the main site, such as the Royal Tombs or the Monastery (Al-Deir). The hike to the Monastery is challenging but offers stunning views.
