Local Flavor at Amman Citadel. Amman City Tour Breakfast at the hotel, visit Amman, the capital of Jordan, a fascinating city of contrasts – a unique blend of old and new, ideally situated on a hilly area between the desert and the fertile Jordan Valley. The Citadel is a prime location to begin, for those interested in embarking on a historical excursion. Positioned on a hilltop, it provides visitors with a glimpse into the rich history of Amman, as well as stunning vistas of the city center. Among the Citadel’s notable sights are the Umayyad Palace complex, the Temple of Hercules, and the Byzantine Church, all of which are considered essential attractions. Jordan Archaeological Museum, situated at the top of the Amman Citadel, was built in 1951 to display the richness of archaeological sites and various artifacts discovered during excavations throughout Jordan. The museum was designed to rely on natural lighting (sunlight) through the windows at the top of the building and on electric lamps on the walls of the museum and above the cupboards so as not to shed light on the artifacts directly and damage them. The Roman Theatre: The rebuilt Roman Theatre, which was constructed into three sides of the hillside in the second century AD and seats about 6,000 people, is still in use today. King Abdullah Mosque: Built as a memorial by the late King Hussein to his grandfather. Enjoy downtown city walks and local food experience. Walk through this beautiful and busy downtown fruit and vegetable market where locals shop for their fresh produce.

Local Flavor. Madaba Drive to Mosaic city Madaba, a combination of rural home life and a hot spot for religious tourism. Known as the “City of Mosaics”, Madaba is the cultural epicenter for Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics. Just a short distance from the capital, visitors are just a stone's throw away from the holy monuments of religious iconography. we will visit St. George church, Northwest of the Roman street in Madaba you arrive to the Greek Orthodox Church of St George built in the 19th century housing the unique mosaic map dating to the 6th century AD that was uncovered in 1884. It represents a topographical source of Byzantine Jordan, Palestine and lower Egypt. The map suffered from fire, Iconoclast, tomb-diggers, climate and rodents resulting in a piece measuring today 10.5m in length and 5m in width comprised of 700k-800k pieces of naturally colored tesserae. Orientation of the map is to the east corresponding with the church not to the north. It depicts the Jordan River, Dead Sea, Kerak, Petra and the place where Jesus Christ was baptized to central Palestine with Jerusalem as navel of earth with parts of the Mediterranean and Nile delta. After that we will have city walks at tourist street, stop by Hussein bin Ali St or “The Tourist Street” to purchase handicrafts and products specific to the mosaics and religious iconography found in Madaba. we'll stop by a mosaic workshop where you'll discover exquisite handmade crafts that reflect Jordan's rich heritage as part of the Roman Empire. You'll have plenty of choices to take home reminders of Jordan, whether it's mosaics, ceramics, or olive wood crafts. You can even spend two hours with us crafting your own coaster!

Sightseeing at Mount Nebo. Mount Nebo Proceed to Mount Nebo. Mount Nebo became a place of pilgrimage for early Christians from Jerusalem and a small church was built there in the 4th century to commemorate the end of Moses' life. Some of the stones from that church remain in their original place in the wall around the apse area. The church was subsequently expanded in the 5th and 6th centuries into the present-day large basilica with its stunning collection of Byzantine mosaics. The Serpentine Cross, which stands just outside the sanctuary, is symbolic of the bronze (or brazen) serpent taken by Moses into the desert and the cross upon which Jesus was crucified.

Archaeological Exploration at Petra. Petra visit Breakfast at the hotel, drive to visit Petra, the world wonder, which is undoubtedly Jordan's most valuable treasure and greatest tourist attraction, visited by tourists from all over the world. It is not known precisely when Petra was built, but the city began to prosper as the capital of the Nabataean Empire from the 1st century BC, growing rich through trade in frankincense, myrrh, and spices. Petra was later annexed to the Roman Empire and continued to thrive until a large earthquake in 363 AD destroyed much of the city in the 4th century AD. The earthquake, combined with changes in trade routes, eventually led to the downfall of the city, which was ultimately abandoned. By the middle of the 7th century, Petra appears to have been largely deserted and was then lost to all except local Bedouin from the area. In 1812, a Swiss explorer named Johannes Burckhardt set out to ‘rediscover’ Petra; he dressed up as an Arab and convinced his Bedouin guide to take him to the lost city. After this, Petra became increasingly known in the West as a fascinating and beautiful ancient city, attracting visitors and continuing to do so today. Petra is also known as the rose-red city, a name it gets from the wonderful color of the rock from which many of the city’s structures were carved. The Nabataeans buried their dead in intricate tombs that were cut out of the mountainsides, and the city also had temples, a theater, and, following the Roman annexation and later Byzantine influence, a colonnaded street and churches. In addition to the magnificent remains of the Nabataean city, human settlement and land use for over 10,000 years can be traced in Petra, where great natural, cultural, archaeological, and geological features merge. On December 6, 1985, Petra was designated a World Heritage Site. Petra was also chosen by Smithsonian Magazine as one of the 28 places you should visit before you die.
