The Experience

What your day looks like

Hakone is a beautiful mountainous area in the Fuji-Hakone-Izu-National Park. Just a half-hour away from Tokyo by bullet train, a day tour out to Hakone is a must-do. Famous for it’s hot springs, scenic crater lake (Lake Ashi) and it’s breathtaking view of Mt. Fuji, Hakone is completely surrounded by Japan’s beautiful nature. Our Hakone tour is a carefully curated mix of history, culture, nature and fun activities. Over the course of this full-day tour, we journey through Hakone and explore the other-worldly natural forces that engulf the area. This private tour includes a bullet train from Tokyo to Odawara and back, a boat ride across Lake Ashi, a cable car up the volcanic Mt. Hakone, a chance to try some legendary black eggs near the sulfurous fields of Owakudani and a visit to the Hakone Open Air Museum or a traditional Onsen (hot spring)*. In addition, you will take a stroll along the Old Tokaido Road - built in the early 17th century it is one of Japan's oldest roads. *Please note that in order to participate in this tour, you must be able to walk a total of approx. 12KM. You must also be able to walk up and down stairs (Hakone Shrine) along uneven grounds (Nature trail), and on slopes (Train station platform).

This was an amazing tour made even more perfect by our guide Miko. Because of her and her knowledge and experience, we were able to see multiple beautiful sites all in one day! Miko allowed us to set the pace and checked to make sure we were comfortable and had everything that we needed throughout the day. There is no way we could have done this all in one day by ourselves. Don't miss this tour and ask for Miko - she was the best guide we had while we were in Japan.

This tour was excellent and Yasu was a great guide. We enjoyed the onsen addition at the end of the tour
