Detailed Itinerary

The journey, in full

One of the main landmarks of Osaka, it was constructed in the 16th century and was the battleground of major wars throughout Japanese history. It is a popular cherry blossom-viewing spot during spring (entrance ticket NOT included) This island oasis, which is home to art museums, early 20th-century architecture, and a park, is the setting for a wonderful late morning stroll. One of the biggest department stores in Osaka, which has just about everything you are looking for (even things you didn’t know you needed). And if you want to experience one of Osaka’s famous “chikagai” (underground shopping malls), check out the labyrinthine White Umeda. A giant (more than 600 meters!) shopping arcade where apparel shops, character goods, cafés, and restaurants line the street. Just about everything a shopper would want is here. Be ready to go back home packed with Osaka-approved souvenirs! Located in the heart of Namba, Osaka’s lively entertainment district, the shrine is home to the area’s guardian deity and is known for its lion’s head enclosing an entrance stage. The lion’s mouth is said to gobble up evil spirits and bring good luck. Japan’s oldest official temple, Shitennoji, was founded in 593, introducing Japan to Buddhism. With its galore of cafes, galleries, and shops, Amerikamura has been the centre of American-inspired youth culture in Osaka for decades. With your host by your side, you’ll get the chance to discover this maze of deviant art, indie music, and hipster fashion district where locals gather to enjoy thrift shopping. There are over 60 tiny traditional Japanese restaurants and bars in this stone-paved narrow little alleyway. Enjoy the serene quietness that contrasts with the bustling atmosphere of nearby Dotonbori while indulging in all the delicacies Osaka can offer.
Look for the statue of Fudomyoo, the deity worshipped at Hozenji Buddhist temple, completely covered in moss and surrounded by visitors pouring water over it in return for its blessings. Lined with garish neon-covered buildings, the Dotombori Canal is the most iconic sight in all of Osaka.
The famous canal network can give you a unique view of Dōtonbori, Osaka's premier entertainment district, before you visit hidden treasures in the Dotombori arcade, a street lined with shops, restaurants, and incredibly flashy signs for guaranteed Instagrammable photos. IMPORTANT: As this is a private and personalised experience, the places you visit may differ from those listed, and these will be chosen by your host based on your interests and preferences

From my client: Alex was a great guide! He shared so much of Osaka and its history while also knowing all the best photo opps. He answered all of our questions and helped us with recommendations and train&bus travel planning for the rest of our time here. I would absolutely recommend Alex for a tour!
