What your day looks like
Foodies are in for a treat with the lively food culture in Hiroshima! Follow your local guide downtown as you discover hidden gems and traditional dishes. Sample delicious oysters and tuck into a forkful of national identity with ‘Hiroshima Okonomiyaki’ - much like the famed Japanese pancake dish, but this version also contains yakisoba noodles and is fried in mouth-watering layers. Explore onwards to a standing bar where you can tick off local delicacies and craft beer from your list. Wander through the beautiful Shukkeien Japanese gardens for a traditional tea ceremony and the maple-leaf shaped cakes ‘Momiji manjū’ as your dessert. Our handpicked hosts are culinary connoisseurs and history buffs, bakers and bankers, students and seniors. The journey, in full
Just a short walk from the station, you’ll explore the incredible beauty of the Shukkeien Japanese gardens, more than 400 years old and having survived the atomic bomb. The bamboo forest provides the perfect backdrop to enjoy a traditional tea ceremony in a typical Japanese tea house. Next up is lunch, where together with your guide, you can choose from a lineup of the most loved Okonomimura stalls.
