Far from being stuck in the past, glass making still runs in the veins of the inhabitants of the island: experience first-hand one of the oldest techniques - the lampwork - thanks to a workshop run by a local artist, who will guide you through the secrets of this work, helping you make your own Venetian bead, keeping alive a 17th-century artistic practice. Finally, have a pleasant stroll around Murano, discovering some hidden gems like its churches and walking through off-the-beaten tracks.

Valerio was an excellent tour guide - so personable and informative. His personal connection to the island made all the difference. We saw a nice selection of lamp works, and loved his behind-the-scenes connections. It was even more special because we were able to add on the church tours thanks to Valerio. he also recommended a wonderful restaurant for lunch, and stopped into introduce us to the owner before we parted ways.
