During this time, a scaffolding structure will cover the entire Last Judgment wall. The Sistine Chapel will remain open and fully accessible, but this specific artwork will not be visible during the restoration period. Thank you for your understanding as this masterpiece receives important care. Get Exclusive Early access to the Sistine Chapel to admire Michelangelo's amazing frescoes one whole hour before the general public! Together with a truly small group of only 6 participants max, or in your very own private group, you will be able to avoid the big crowds and quietly enjoy this wonderful masterpiece. The tour guide was knowlegable and did a good job, however she didnt explain how and when we were going thru the Sistine Chapel so my wife missed it and was disappointed. Overall it was a good tour but strenous with all the steps.

We had a great experience visiting the Vatican on the Early morning semi-private tour. Our guide Bruno was very knowledgeable and that made for a great experience. Though want to mention that there are many different tours that go from the designated meeting point so don't expect just a small group of 6 to be there, which is what I (wrongly) expected. With the tour you get to enter the Vatican museums 1 hour before the general opening and so the museum was relatively sparsely populated while going in. However by the time you get to the Sistine Chapel and the Basilica the number of people is not small as they might have bought timed tickets before hand. However it does save you from standing in line for the Basilica - at least the day we visited on a Saturday - there was a 6 hour wait to enter the Basilica at the time we reached from a dedicated entry from the Sistine Chapel.
