The Experience

What your day looks like

If you happen to be in town for the annual Tai O Dragon Boat Water Parade, you're in for a treat. The procession has been a religious tradition for almost a century and was designated an intangible cultural treasure in 2011. As part of a centuries-old custom, holy sampans transport sculptures from local temples around the canals. Cheung Choi Kee: Cheung Choi Kee is famed for its 'husband rolls'. This delectable delight is a Cantonese pun on 'shrimp and pork rolls', with the famed Tai O shrimp paste lathered on pork filling and wrapped in dough. Fuk Hing Hong: Fish balls, marinated cuttlefish, and tofu pudding are easy to spot at Fuk Hing Hong, a snack booth near the entrance of the Tai O fishing hamlet. You know they're good when locals line up for their food.
