Transportation. Welcome to Guatemala! Meet your guides in the Foyer of the Tikal Futura Hotel in Guatemala City at 8:00 am. From here you will journey across the border to the ancient city of Copan.

Archaeological Exploration. Explore the Copan Ruins: We will arrive at Copan at lunchtime and enjoy a hearty meal. After the long journey and a satisfying lunch, you’ll be rewarded with the sight of impressive carved rock and Mayan statues, unlike any other site. The art at Copan truly distinguishes it from other sites in Central America. You’ll also have the unique opportunity to walk through the tunnels of the ancient city, giving you a new perspective on the structures Afterwards, a short ride will take you to accomodation.

Transportation. Today, after breakfast, you head off to El Salvador, a country often overlooked when travelling to Central America. El Salvador has much to offer, including its famous black sand beaches and is known as the “Land of Volcanoes.” After crossing the border, you will arrive in the town of Santa Ana, where your first Salvadorian meal awaits at a local restaurant.

Leisure at Lake Coatepeque. Santa Ana and Lake Coatepeque: From there, you will be taken to the magnificent Lake Coatepeque. Spend the afternoon unwinding, taking in the views, swimming in the pool or lake, and enjoying a drink if you please. From the modern hotel, you can gaze over the lake with a backdrop of not one, but four volcanoes. This area will be explored further tomorrow, giving you the chance to summit one.

Breakfast. Lunch. Tonight, enjoy a dinner overlooking the calm waters before heading to bed, preparing yourself for a busy day of adventuring to come.

Eco Tour at Los Volcanes National Park. Cerro Verde walk: After a hearty breakfast, you will be transferred from Lake Coatepeque to the National Park of Cerro Verde, an ancient volcano surrounded by the Izalco and Santa Ana volcanoes. Starting at 9 am, you’ll embark on a hike from Cerro Verde to climb the Llamatepec volcano up to its crater with a local expert guide. At the summit, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the crater and the stunning surroundings. This hike requires a decent level of fitness. If the hike is too ambitious, you can explore the National Park’s bird sanctuary, home to emerald toucanets, magpies, woodpeckers, motmots, and 17 different hummingbird species, which you can spot around the top of the Cerro Verde Volcano.
Suchitoto
Local Flavor. Suchitoto city tour: In the afternoon, we will transfer to the colonial town of Suchitoto, where we’ll explore several local art galleries during a walking tour of the town. Various locations offer great views over Lake Suchitlan, a former river that was dammed and now supports an ecosystem rich with bird species, including pelicans, herons, and storks.

Breakfast. Lunch. We will end the day with dinner at a local pupusa restaurant, where you’ll participate in a short workshop to make your own stuffed pupusas by hand. You can fill them with cheese, beans, loroco, and pork.

ATV/UTV & Off Road Tours. Suchitoto eco tour: The morning in Suchitoto begins with a delightful breakfast before a guided city tour reveals its rich history and cultural treasures. You’ll delve into El Salvador’s civil war history, as a local guide showcases guerrilla hideouts and recounts stories from the war times. You’ll trek through small sections of lush jungle in a nature reserve recently established by local communities. After your morning guerrilla tour, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before saying goodbye to the colonial town and heading to the coast. During the drive, you’ll be treated to views of El Salvador’s beautiful landscape, including volcanoes, jungles, valleys, farmland, and quaint towns.

Local Flavor at León Cathedral, Nicaragua. León Cathedral: In León, a guided tour will showcase the town’s beauty and historical significance. You’ll explore the colorful streets, making your way to the main plaza where you’ll find the León Cathedral. Not only will you get to go inside, but you’ll also explore the top, offering views overlooking the town.

The walk might dirty your shoes, but the stunning vistas along the trail make it well worth it. Today, your journey through the heart of Central America ends. We’ll begin with an early breakfast on the picturesque island of Ometepe, followed by a ferry ride back to the mainland. From there, you’ll be transferred to the airport in Managua. At this point, you can either return home or continue your travels through this incredible continent, at your own expense. END: Your tour will end around 11 am in Managua, Nicaragua, where you’ll be dropped off at the airport. This the end of our trip! Thanks for travelling with us!
