Welcome to Ghana! Arrive in Accra, meet your transfer, and proceed to your hotel. Check-in is available from 3 PM.

Accra

Sightseeing at Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum. Accra: After breakfast, embark on a city tour of Accra, Ghana’s capital, visiting Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, the National Museum, uniquely designed casket shops, and the Arts and Crafts Market.

Day 3

Kumasi

Local Flavor. Kumasi: After breakfast, depart for Kumasi, stopping at Ejisu Besease to visit an Ashanti ancestral shrine and explore the beliefs, history, and bravery of the Ashantis. Built around 1850, the shrine is one of the few remaining examples of traditional Ashanti architecture. Continue the journey, driving past scenic villages showcasing traditional Ghanaian buildings. Visit a few Ashanti craft villages to observe artisans at work and browse a wide assortment of handicrafts, offering a unique opportunity to purchase souvenirs or gifts. Arrive in Kumasi by late afternoon, with the rest of the day free to relax at your hotel.

Day 4

Kumasi

Local Flavor at Manhyia Palace Museum. Manhyia Palace Museum: After breakfast, visit the Manhyia Palace Museum for an insight into Asante history and culture. Then, travel by road to Elmina, stopping at Assin Manso to visit the burial site of three former slaves from the U.S., Jamaica, and Barbados whose remains were reinterred in Ghana. There, you will also see the “Slave River,” where enslaved Africans were washed before being confined in the Slave Castles to await shipment to the Americas and the Caribbean.

Sightseeing at Elmina Castle. Elmina Castle: After breakfast, visit Elmina Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in 1482 by the Portuguese and the first European structure in sub-Saharan Africa.

Sightseeing at Cape Coast Castle. Cape Coast Castle: Continue to Cape Coast Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in 1652 by the Swedes, and home to the infamous "Door of No Return." Visit the West Africa Historical Museum for a guided tour. In the afternoon, attend a cooking workshop where you will learn to prepare traditional Ghanaian dishes such as fufu, groundnut soup, red-red, and palava sauce. Enjoy the opportunity to sample some of Ghana’s most popular foods. Note: All dishes are made with purified water.

Accra

Eco Tour at Kakum National Park. Kakum National Park: After breakfast, depart Elmina and visit Kakum National Park. Take a morning walk along the “Kuntan Trail,” lined with countless trees known for their medicinal properties. For the adventurous, experience the “Canopy Walkway,” suspended 100 feet above the forest floor, offering a panoramic view of the rainforest’s flora and fauna.

Sightseeing at Abandze. Abandze: Depart for a scenic drive to Accra, Ghana’s capital city, with a brief stop at the village of Abandze, the ancestral home of renowned American jazz musician Louis Armstrong. Arrive in Accra by the afternoon, with the rest of the day free for last-minute shopping.
