Niederkirchnerstraße (Former SS & Gestapo Headquarters - EXTERIOR ONLY) Once the nerve center of Nazi terror, this site now houses the Topography of Terror museum, documenting the crimes of Hitler’s secret police. Bebelplatz & Book Burning Memorial The site of the infamous 1933 Nazi book burning, Bebelplatz features a haunting underground memorial—an empty library symbolizing the lost knowledge of 20,000 destroyed books. Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe (Holocaust Memorial) A vast and immersive memorial of 2,711 concrete slabs, designed to evoke loss and disorientation, honoring the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Checkpoint Charlie The most famous Berlin Wall crossing point during the Cold War, once the site of a dramatic U.S.-Soviet tank standoff in 1961. Führerbunker (Hitler’s Bunker Site) Now an unmarked parking lot with a small plaque, this was the underground shelter where Hitler spent his final days before Berlin fell in 1945.
