Faroese Cooking Class And Sheep Farm Tour with Berghild
What your day looks like
Berghild and Klæmint are passionate about preserving and sharing the rich culinary traditions of the Faroe Islands. On their family’s sheep farm in Selatrað, only a 30 minute drive from Tórshavn, they invite guests to learn about faroese traditional sheep farming and they share how every part of the animal can be used—from making blood sausage to drying and fermenting meat in the island winds. Dedicated to sustainability and heritage, Berghild and Klæmint offer an authentic taste of Faroese life and the deep connection between food, land, and culture. Cooking Description: Experience authentic Faroese life with Berghild and Klæmint on their family’s traditional sheep farm, a 30 minute drive from Tórshavn. Begin your Faroe Islands cooking class in the Mittún family's cozy farmhouse kitchen, where you’ll learn to prepare a classic and seasonal Faroese meal made with mainly local, seasonal ingredients. While your meal is in the oven, take a scenic tractor tour to meet and feed the sheep, discover sustainable farming practices, and hear about how almost every part of the animal is used. Depending on the season, you may even witness lambing (May). Back at the farmhouse, you will be offered to taste skerpikjøt, the famous wind-dried lamb of the Faroe Islands, celebrated for its deep, savory flavor. End your experience by enjoying the meal you helped cook, paired with Faroese crafted beer/soda and a homemade rhubarb-pie with whipped cream for dessert, accompanied with tea or coffee. Perfect for families and groups, this hands-on cooking and farm tour offers a genuine taste of Faroese culture, home hospitality and traditional food in a peaceful atmosphere, surrounded by natural views and beauty. Berghild and Klæmint will do their best to accommodate dietary restrictions.
