The Experience

What your day looks like

This taxi transfer to and from Chartwell offers you a guaranteed pick-up and return from a location of your choice. On your way to Chartwell your driver will explain all about the history of the site, why Churchill bought the property, and why after the Second World War he was forced to sell. Once at the property you have the chance to explore Chartwell on your own, and enjoy the awe-inspiring accomplishments that Sir Winston and Lady Churchill achieved from this modest country estate. A giant of history and instrumental in the success of the Allies in the Second World War, the world we live in owes much to Sir Winston and his vision of a free and united Europe. Many of Sir Winston’s greatest achievements, including the writing of his Nobel Prize-winning memoirs, took place at Chartwell. Much changed and expanded upon by Sir Winston, Chartwell was, in places, built by Churchill who had a hand in expanding and extending the main house to building the brick walls in the kitchen garden. This tour offers you the chance not only to explore the house and grounds but also discover, with the help of your guide, how Churchill created a much-loved family home.
