This tour offers you the chance to explore London with a guide who is as passionate about Doctor Who as you are. Along the way, you will see some of London’s leading sights whilst hearing all about their links to the hit BBC TV series Doctor Who. Led by an experienced tour guide, who was interviewed by the Doctor Who Magazine for their ‘On Location’ special edition, and who filmed with the BBC as part of their Christmas Doctor Who Ident, this tour is perfect for Timelords, Daleks, Cybermen, and Sontarians of all ages. We will visit Earl’s Court Tour materializes at Earl’s Court Road, just outside Earls Court Station, where a Mark 40 TARDIS has been sat since 1996. After you have taken your fill of photos, your guide will explain the history of the Police Box, how this phone box came into being, and finally how thanks to the image of the TARDIS the Metropolitan Police Service and the BBC ended up in court. Victoria Embankment At this location, we will discuss the first sequences filmed in London for the new series of Doctor Who, and some of the mistakes in the scripts of series 1. This location also gives you the chance to stand opposite the London Eye and recreate the famous ‘What?!’ moment from the very first episode of the new Who ‘Rose’. Whitehall Whilst visiting Whitehall we will discuss how Doctor Who has become an integral part of UK culture, and how Harold Saxon became Prime Minister. St. James’s Park As we walk through the beautiful St James’s Park, we will stop at the mall to discuss the links between Doctor Who and the Royal Family and how Wilf (Donna Nobel’s grandfather) was only ever supposed to be a cameo appearance in one episode. Trafalgar Square Trafalgar Square Named after the 1805 battle of Trafalgar is home to the National Gallery and the under gallery where the painting of Galli Frey Falls No More is housed…. or is it? John Adam Street John Adam Street is the filming location for No. 10 Downing Street in the Doctor Who episode Aliens of London and World War Three. This is your chance to pretend to be on the steps of the Prime Minister’s home and pose for the camera. St. Paul’s Cathedral After traveling by public transport to St Paul’s Cathedral, your guide will explain how Sir Christopher Wren’s masterpiece and the surrounding areas have been used throughout Doctor Who, including in the two-part Dark Water and Death In Heaven. Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, often called ‘The Globe’ by Londoners is not only a unique building in the heart of London but is also a site that is heavily associated with the 10th Doctor, David Tennant, his career, and his personal life. While stopped outside The Globe, not only will your guide reveal how the theatre was used in the episode The Shakespeare Code, but we will also tell you how this unique London landmark came into being. Southwark Cathedral Mentioned in the episode ‘The Lazarus Experiment’, the Southwark Cathedral mentioned in episode is not what it seems….. London Bridge Our final stop is London Bridge where you will be able to get amazing views up and down the River Thames. From here your guide will explain how the locations that you can see from the bridge were used in Doctor Who before allowing you to depart for the nearby Monument or London Bridge Stations. The Ultimate Doctor Who London Walking Tour Calling all Whovians! This tour is your ticket to exploring the streets of London through the eyes of The Doctor. We’ll journey from classic filming locations to spots steeped in show lore, connecting the dots between the fantastical world of Doctor Who and the very real, historic city it calls home. 1. London Bridge & The Tower of London We begin our adventure crossing the famous London Bridge. Gaze upon the imposing Tower of London, a location with its own rich history that has brilliantly collided with the Whoniverse. Discover how it secretly houses the UNIT Black Archive and how its infamous ravens became part of the show’s legacy, even prompting a tweet from the Tower’s own ravenmaster! 2. Saint Thomas Street & The Shard Look up! From this street, we get a perfect view of The Shard, the UK's tallest building. This is where Miss Kizlet ran her sinister operation for the Great Intelligence. Learn how the production team cleverly uses London’s iconic skyline to create awe-inspiring scenes while keeping eager fans guessing about the plot. 3. Southwark Cathedral Outside this beautiful Gothic cathedral, mentioned in ‘The Lazarus Experiment’, we’ll unravel a web of connections. Discover which actor holds the record for the most characters played in Doctor Who and how their involvement indirectly launched the career of a certain famous Sherlock Holmes. 4. Shakespeare's Globe Theatre A site deeply linked to the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant. We’ll reveal how Doctor Who made history as the first production ever allowed to film inside the Globe for ‘The Shakespeare Code’. Learn about Tennant’s unique relationship with this landmark and its surprising connection to one of the show's most beloved villains. 5. St. Paul's Cathedral After a short hop on public transport, we arrive at Sir Christopher Wren’s masterpiece. We’ll explore its history and why it remains a favourite for filmmakers wanting to capture the essence of London. 6. John Adam Street: No. 10 Downing Street Time for a photo op! This unassuming street was transformed into the home of the British Prime Minister for ‘Aliens of London/World War Three’. Strike a pose and pretend you’re about to make a crucial decision for the planet! 7. Trafalgar Square Stand in the heart of London where the Eleventh Doctor dangled from the TARDIS in ‘The Day of the Doctor’. We’ll explain the ingenious filming techniques that made this chaotic scene possible without shutting down the entire square. And of course, we’ll discuss the legendary painting, Gallifrey Falls No More... or does it? 8. St. James's Park & The Mall As we walk through this beautiful royal park, we’ll delve into Doctor Who’s regal connections. Hear how the production created the unforgettable shot of the Titanic crashing towards Buckingham Palace and learn the heartwarming story behind one of the show’s most beloved companions, Wilfred Mott, and the legendary actor who played him. 9. Whitehall Walk down the centre of British power. This is where the Doctor Who team faked the destruction of Downing Street! Your guide will point out the government buildings that make this area so recognizable and explain why you might see mounted soldiers guarding the streets. 10. Palace of Westminster & Big Ben No London tour is complete without this iconic view. Here, we’ll discuss how Big Ben has faced destruction at the hands (or lasers) of aliens more than once. We’ll also identify the very real hospital that was famously abducted by the Judoon and taken to the moon. 11. Victoria Embankment Relive the moment it all began! This location was used for some of the very first scenes filmed for the modern series. Stand opposite the London Eye and recreate Rose Tyler’s iconic “What?!” moment from the 2005 episode ‘Rose’. 12. Earl's Court: The Final Photo Op Our journey concludes at a legendary spot for any Whovian: a genuine Police Public Call Box.
