What your day looks like
Spend a day with us exploring the internationally renowned Oxfordshire Cotswolds. Home to some of the most stunning villages and towns in the whole of England, this tour gives you the chance to explore this outstandingly beautiful area from your London accommodation. Led by an expert guide, they will help you uncover hidden gems, such as the ancient St Nicholas’ Church which has rare examples of pre-restoration wall paintings, and a clock that was originally used for local time. We will visit: Cogges Manor Farm and explore our favorite place in the whole of the Cotswolds. Full of fun, history, and friendly farmyard animals, this historically important farm can trace its origins back to the castle that used to sit on the grounds of the current farm. A favorite with TV and Film crews, we will tell you which famous faces have loved their time filming here and which Prime Minster named the Sandy and Black pigs after his daughters. Marvel at the pre-restoration wall paintings that have been uncovered in St Nicholas’ Church in Asthall. Known for the Mitford sisters, one of the most famous sets of siblings in the 20th century when at Asthall your guide will explain who the sensational siblings were, how one rose to become a Duchess and Lady of one of the country's greatest country houses, and how another included Adolf Hitler and Joseph Goebbels amongst her wedding guests! Have lunch at either The Swan Inn, one of Burford‘s many historic eateries, or if you prefer (and the weather permits) why not bring a picnic* and enjoy eating alfresco next to the River Windrush in the wonderfully quaint village of Shilton. After lunch, we will continue to the historic village of Bampton, which can trace its history back to the Iron Age. Here you will have a chance to explore this stunning village, and its ancient church, and even see the grave of a real-life crusader!

Cogges Manor Farm Cogges Manor Farm doubles up as Yew Tree Farm, the home of Mr. Drew in the hit TV series Downton Abbey. Explore the charming farmhouse, learn about this stunning community-owned property, and meet some of the animals, including the Sandy and Black Pigs, which have a surprising link to a former Prime Minister. Asthall Discover the beautiful village of Asthall, the childhood home of the famous—and infamous—Mitford sisters. Learn how these sisters became some of the most notable figures in 20th-century Britain and their connections to Hitler and the Dukes of Devonshire. The village is also home to St. Nicholas Church, featuring a local clock and faded pre-Reformation murals. The Swan Inn Enjoy a delicious pub lunch at The Swan, a favorite spot even for former Prime Minister David Cameron. (Please note that lunch is not included in the tour price.) Swinbrook (Pass By) Admire the picturesque village of Swinbrook, home to the Mitford family, as we drive through. Your guide will point out local landmarks featured in the Bridget Jones film series. Fulbrook (Pass By) Take in the scenic beauty of this charming Cotswolds village as we pass through. Burford One of the most iconic villages in the Cotswolds, Burford offers a beautiful High Street lined with stunning architecture, boutique shops, and plenty of photo opportunities. Shilton This idyllic village features a forded river, centuries-old cottages, and a historic pub, making it one of the prettiest spots in the region—perfect for photos. Bampton The final stop is the famous filming location for Downton Abbey, where you’ll see key sites from the series and movie. Explore the 12th-century church, learn about its history, and discover why a crusader knight is buried here. Your guide will share behind-the-scenes stories and introduce you to locals who love sharing their village’s connection to the show. After exploring Bampton, we’ll begin our journey back.
