The journey, in full
We begin with a world-famous ceremony and the oldest tradition at Buckingham Palace – the Changing of the Guard. Depending on the day and the schedule of the Household Cavalry, you’ll either get to see the Changing of the Foot Guards or the Changing of the Horse Guards. Your expert local guide will navigate you through the crowds of this time-honored ritual. Here you’ll be entertained with colorful commentary about the pageantry and history behind the ceremony of the King’s red tunic-wearing Foot Guards and their famous bearskin hats as they march with the military band or Household Calvary (depending on your selected tour date). Note: this part of the tour is subject to weather and last minute changes which are beyond our control. Then on to Buckingham Palace, home to His Royal Heinous, King Charles III, where you have the rare opportunity to explore the State Rooms of the world’s most adored royal family. Get a glimpse into what life is like behind the locked gilded doors and stand in awe amongst the lavish rooms, glittering crystal chandeliers and opulent furnishings as you explore the palace, listening to the audio-guided tour. Take time to appreciate some of the Royal Collection’s greatest treasures: Sèvres porcelain, the finest English and French furniture in the world, masterful paintings, and ornate décor - many of which were gifts from Heads of State around the world and throughout the centuries.

Only small bags are allowed to bring on the tour We are also unable to accommodate strollers or baby carriages on our group tours. Photography is not permitted within Buckingham Palace but is allowed within the gardens. City Wonders reserves the right to refuse participation on its tours to any guest under the influence of drugs or alcohol or to any guest whose behavior is disorderly, or poses a threat to other guests or City Wonders staff.

Our tour guide, Joseph, was absolutely amazing! He gave us a very insightful and entertaining background of the areas surrounding the palace, got us great viewing areas of the Changing of the Guard and provided us with tons of history along the way. My kids (12, 12 and 15) remained engaged and interested the whole time. Inside the Palace was a sight to see and a rare opportunity. I'm so glad we got to experience this during our trip! It was so cool to walk in the footsteps of the Royal Family, hear the stories behind the different rooms and just take everything in. Highly recommend this tour!

Guide was excellent with overview and some history. Probably could have watched the changing of the guards myself. Palace tour was fine but I’m not into museums much and this is what the tour seemed like. Not really “exclusive” in any way.

We had an amazing guide who was knowledgable and entertaining. We were able to follow the guards as the Changing of the Guard Ceremony progressed. We thoroughly enjoyed this excursion and would recommend to others. One thing to keep in mind, is the tour moves quickly amongst the crowd so you need to be physically capable of keeping up and walking quickly.

On Sun 10 Aug, 25 at 9:15am we were on this tour. Our tour guide, Sam, was really ill informed on the timing of all the festivities of the day. He truly lead us away from everything and our group had to urge him to at least go to the palace direction where when we finally got there we had zero view and was behind the giant crowd. He met colleagues along the way from his company (literally walking in opposite direction of us) who had no issues getting their groups to the right spots…we are not sure why he didn’t follow. He dropped us off at the queue line to the palace state rooms and left without explaining what to do next. That tour was a complete bust, we literally saw nothing in the hour and fifteen min we had. The whole point of booking this was to see the changing of the guard which we did not see at all. And we had no other day to do this tour, very very disappointed. The company should make this right by providing a refund as what we paid for is not what we got.

The tour guide for the outside area was very knowledgeable. It helped to have headsets so we could hear him no matter how close we were to him. The audio guided tour of the inside was great. Buckingham Palace is definitely worth seeing.

A lot of time and effort to get a shot of soldiers on foot. Also Buckingham Palace entry was a bear. It takes way too long to enter.
