What your day looks like
Discover the beauty of a vanished world at the standing stones of Avebury, and explore the elegant city of Bath on this history packed journey. In Avebury, you wonder why Neolithic inhabitants built the largest stone circle in Europe. At Lacock, you question how the stunning abbey has managed to be a nunnery, a brewery, a bakery, and a home. And in Bath, you ponder over what Britain would have been like if the Romans had never visited. Your guide lets you wander through the streets of Bath, where Georgian architecture effortlessly blends with ancient Roman artifacts. You travel to Lacock, where the rickety old lanes have been used as a filming location for Harry Potter, Downton Abbey, and Pride and Prejudice. And you venture to Avebury, where the stone monuments have beguiled visitors, historians, and archaeologists for centuries.

Detailed Itinerary
The journey, in full
Leaving London behind, you travel west. The big city and motorways fade into the North Wessex Downs National Landscape, and you travel through the peaceful green hills towards the village of Avebury. You spend the morning in the village of Avebury. This UNESCO World Heritage site dates back over 4000 years, and is the largest prehistoric stone circle in the world. What makes this extraordinary landscape so unique is the village that has been built within the stone circle, with houses dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries. You have time to meander this mysterious setting and have a refreshment from the local village pub. From here, you travel deeper into the rural landscape to Lacock, where you'll have time to visit the famous abbey. Fans of Harry Potter, get your cameras ready because you'll recognise the cloisters, used as Hogwarts corridors in the movies. There's plenty to discover in this magical medieval building. After you've had time to explore this quirky village, it's onwards to Bath, our main stop of the day. Arriving in the mid-afternoon, you can enjoy the iconic Georgian architecture at your own pace, or even visit the Roman Baths for another dose of history. You have plenty of time to explore Bath at your own pace, before returning to London in the early evening. You return to London at approximately 7.30pm.

To maintain the integrity of the tour and ensure that all our customers have the best possible experience, we cap bookings from any one party at 8 passengers. For groups larger than 8, please submit an inquiry for a private tour. You're restricted to 20kg (44lbs) of luggage per person. This should be one piece of luggage similar to an airline carry-on bag (approximately 55cm x 45cm x 25cm / 22in x 17in x 10in) plus one small bag for onboard personal items. We regret that we are unable to permit children under 5 years on our tours. Children under 18 need to be accompanied by an adult.

Loved it, our driver provided an entertaining commentary of the things we were passing. Probable floodwaters at Lacock diverted us a few times but we navigated around them. Better than Stonehenge, Avebury, Bath and Lacock are very well worth visiting and this was ideal for us when we didn't have a lot of time. Bus was very comfortable and the style was relaxed. Thanks. (Loved the map supplied of Bath, others for Avebury, bring boots, and Lacock pointing out the highlights could be handy.)
