The Experience

What your day looks like

This tour will take you to the crater of the Ilamatepec Volcano, a scenic hidden gem. With a height of 2384 meters above sea level, the Santa Ana Volcano, best known as the Ilamatepec, is the highest volcano in the region. It is also the third highest point in El Salvador. The Volcano's geological history dates back about 2 million years, with irregular eruptions, the most famous of which was in 2005 and destroyed local crops and villages. The road to the crater is narrow and has a medium level of difficulty. During the tour, you will find a series of sightseeing platforms made of wood, from which you can admire the beauty of the natural landscape that surround the Lake and Volcanoes area. At the periphery of the crater, the winds are strong and you will be enveloped in clouds. From there you can see the emerald green lagoon inside the volcano. You will also have the opportunity to see a beautiful panorama of Lake Coatepeque, Volcano Izalco, Cerro Verde and the Pacific Ocean. The view is simply breathtaking!
