Constructed to honor Khufu, the second ruler of Egypt's 4th dynasty, its completion occurred around 2560 BCE. Today, the Great Pyramid is the sole survivor of the Seven Wonders of the World. Its wonder lies not only in its vastness but also in the astonishing precision of its construction. While its purpose is presumed to be the burial site of Khufu, only an empty sarcophagus resides within it.
