Our guide was incredible. We spent a lot of time at the beaches. We did see a couple turtles but it was only very briefly that we looked for them. I wish we had spent more time at the turtle area.

Caio was wonderful! He made sure to translate specifically to us when needed and was very informative! We felt safe and had a great time exploring the island and seeing sea turtles! Loved it! Thank you!

It was a great day on the sea. I felt safe and enjoyed all the different spots that the boat navigated during the day. I had an impression that we would be closer to the mangrove trees and see more turtles. We did not see many only 3 turtles and that was very quick. The photographer was great and took lots of pictures which we could purchase. I would have preferred more time on the water snorkeling than hanging out on the beach on Saona Island. I understand though that this brings money to the island. Many woman trying to sell massage services. I also did not bring money for this as I did not think I would need to spend extra money on this trip. Overall, we totally enjoyed the whole experience and our team of boat people were fantastic.

Stanley and Camille’ were the absolute best! They really made this great trip so much more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone.

I was a little wary booking a trip from the UK with a company outside of our hotel, but we particularly wanted to see the sea turtles. I found Project Expedition who offered a ‘Turtle Sanctuary Saona Island Full Day Tour’, which seemed to tick all the boxes and so booked and paid a deposit. I received confirmation and a WhatsApp message from Victor, who answered my many questions running up to the trip. We received confirmation the day before and met our driver at our hotel main gate as agreed. We were transferred to the coach where we boarded with passengers from other hotels and we set off as a group of 16. Our guide was informative and friendly and explained things along the way, after about an hour we arrived at a little beach where we got onto a speed boat and set off up the river into the Mangroves looking for iguanas. Sadly we didn’t spot any. We then went down the coast and stopped to snorkel with the fish, back onto the boat with a stop at the beautiful San Rafael Del Yuma to swim in the crystal clear water with snacks, fruit skewers and rum. We continued down the coast and saw the sea turtles in their natural environment, along with sting rays and fish. We then went to Saona Island, where a buffet lunch and drinks were provided and a couple of hours free time to enjoy the beach, piña colada’s and a massage if you want (not included in price). Onto the boat and back up the coast with one last stop to see starfish, which you can hold, stingrays and more rum! We returned to the beach to get back on the bus, a comfort break after about 20 minutes, then the hour drive to our taxi who dropped us back to our hotel. I have no hesitation in recommending Project Expedition, Noah Travel Services and the team on the day were absolutely brilliant. No complaints whatsoever.
